Last Sunday, on a overcast afternoon, saw the Rebels travel to Chester for their 4th league game of the season. Winning the toss🪙, they chose to bowl.
Sarah&Cassie got the game underway & both took a wicket in their spell. Steph took a catch off Sarah’s bowling in the 5th over & Cassie trapping the bowler lbw in the 6th. Nicola&Jenny bowled the next 6 overs. No wickets were taken, but scoring was kept to a minimum. Abilgail on her debut with us & Andie bowled in the next spell. Again no wickets taken but good fielding from the Rebels limited the scoring. The next wicket came in the 20th over, with Steph bowling out the batter. Nicola took the 4th wicket in the 27th over, when Steph took a close catch. Cassie then got her 2nd wicket of the day in the following over, bowling out the batter. The final 2 wickets fell in the final over, in consecutive balls from Steph’s bowling & a catch from wicket keeper Sam. Final score 137/7.
Onto the batting & not the start the Rebels would have wanted!! Steph out in the first over!🦆. Chelle then came to the middle to join Andie, but her visit was cut short with a calf injury in the 4th over forcing her to retire 😫. The following over Andie was then bowled out with the score on 11/2. Sam&Ellie in the middle next, found the scoring difficult despite some good shots from both. Sam was caught out in the 9th over. Nicola joined Ellie for 3 overs before being given out lbw after making a promising start. Sarah was next in and put on a brilliant partnership with Ellie of 70 runs to get Runcorn back in the game. Sarah was given out lbw in the 25th over after scoring 45. With the Rebels on 102/5 with 4 overs remaining, they needed to get 6+ an over to get the win 🫣. Unfortunately 2 wickets fell in the 26th over (Jenny & Cassie) & the balls were running out fast! After a good 30 from Ellie, she was bowled in the 28th over. Abigail was then caught out in the final over & Chelle returned from injury with a runner to finish off the innings with Caron. Final score 118/9.
A close game with a narrow defeat of 19 runs for the Rebels We now have a few weeks before our next game to rest & recover from a few knocks 🤕.

We've got a really long break in our hardball season now with the next game scheduled for the 12th of July 😳

The Good news however, is our softball section is keeping us going with the excitement.

This Fridays line up is against Bunbury at home. Gather your friends and come on down and cheer them all on 📣🎉🥂

Then next week, theres no training for us as we'll be a stones throw away with our neighbours in Widnes 🫶🏼
This will be a fun one for sure. Lots of laughs, banter and and good old fun with basically our family across the water ❣️
Feel free to gather the crowds and come along with us to cheer them on

Last Friday, the Rebels were back on our homeground against 💕🏏 time was of the essence to avoid the inevitable rain!

We went up against a lovely team and this time, the Rebels came out on top, our first win of the season!!

The last day in May saw the Rebels travel to Nantwich for their 3rd game of the season🏏. Winning the coin toss (for once 🤣)Runcorn decided to field first.

Sarah & Izzi bowled the first 6 overs. Sarah starting with a maiden over. The 1st wicket fell in the second over when Izzi bowled out the batter. The 4th over saw Runcorn take another wicket, lbw by Izzi. The 6th over saw Andie take a great close catch which was hit very hard from the Nantwich batter giving Izzi her 3rd wicket of the day. Jamie & Nicola bowled the next spell of overs. Nicola took her 1st wicket in the 8th over bowling out the batter with the score on 45/4. Jamie then took a great caught & bowled in the next over, then brilliantly took a run out in the 10th over. The 12th over saw 3 wickets fall all bowled by Nicola👏🏼. Andie & Hayley then bowled 4 tight overs only giving away 6 runs. Thanks to tight fielding from the Rebels. The last wicket didn’t fall until the 21st over, Nicola taking it for her 5fer! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Final score 75 A/O.
Excellent fielding from the Rebels meant that the batters could settle into the innings and didn’t need to rush. Steph & Andie opened and chipped away at the score taking singles when available. Andie was bowled in the 5th over bringing Chelle to the middle. After a good 6th over with 10 scored, Chelle was caught out in the 7th. Kim making her debut was next in to bat. A couple of maiden overs followed before Steph was bowled in the 10th, with the score on 20/3. Sam joined Kim in the middle and made a good partnership before Kim had to retire off injured in the 15th over 🫣, Nicola then came in for Kim. Sam was bowled in the 16th after scoring 15. Sarah came in next and between her and Nicola managed to knock off the final 30 runs without the loss of anymore wickets. Final score 77/4.

Another superb performance from the Rebels against a team who they lost to only a couple of weeks ago. It really shows how close this league will be this year 😬.
Next up Chester away from home this Sunday.

It was a sunny Sunday morning last week when the Runcorn Rebels softball team were back again playing 💕🏏

A warm start to the day with plenty of suncream and sunglasses on with a welcome half time watermelon as the teams switched over.

A great game all round but Bunbury had the edge on their home turf!

Sunday saw the Rebels Hardball team back in action at home against Oakmere. Oakmere won the toss 🪙 & elected to bowl.
It very hot conditions 🥵 the Rebels opening batters, Steph & Andie got into the swing of things early on & opened with a partnership of 66 before Andie was given out LBW in the 8th over. Chelle was next in & quickly got off the mark. Steph lost her wicket in the following over bowled for 43. Sam was in 4th. Chelle was then bowled in the 10th over with Runcorn on 69/3. Nicole came in next & managed a short stay before being bowled in the 12th over. Sarah & Sam then managed a 48 run partnership scoring steadily for 5 overs before Sam was bowled in the 18th over scoring 25. Izzi was next to bat. Sarah fell in the next over playing a shot straight to a fielder after scoring 28. Cassie & Izzi then had a superb partnership of 96. Izzi getting to her maiden 50 👏🏼 in the 26th over & scoring a huge 6 in the next over🎉. Izzi’s batting came to end on 73 in the 28th over. Jenny was the last batter in & her and Cassie finished off the innings. Cassie finishing on 20 & Jenny 5. Final score 241/7🥳.
After a brilliant batting performance, confidence was high going into the field. A quick start was made with a run out being taken off the very first ball. The Rebels bowled & fielded very tight, not allowing the Oakmere batters to score at the rate they required. It was the 9th over when the 2nd wicket fell, Izzi taking an LBW. Izzi took her 2nd wicket in the 11th with the score on 28/3. Hayley & Nicole then had a great bowling spell. Both taking wickets in consecutive overs. Hayley taking the 4th,7th & 8th wicket all bowled & Nicole taking the 5th & 6th wickets one bowled & the other with Sarah taking a great catch close in. The final 2 wickets of the game came from Andie’s bowling, one bowled & Sarah taking her 2nd catch of the game. Final innings score of 55 all out.
A big win for the Rebels winning by 186 runs and just what they needed after a tough opening game 🥳. Everyone gave there all & contributed in the win👏🏼.

Last Friday softball’s Runcorn Rebels were back again against our neighbours across the Mersey, 💕🏏

It’s always a joy playing against our Mersey gals and last years league winners came out on top so well done Widnes!
