Last Sunday we faced Brereton Lion in the Jock Corrigan Memorial Cup at The Red Lion Ground (Brereton Social FC)

The game started with both teams a little nervy neither side creating any clear cut chances.. around the 25 minute mark the chase got a grip on the game and started playing some flowing football and was looking likely to grab a goal, the chase turned the screw and from a fantastic bit of footwork from the skipper Jamie Clarke he set Young Sammy Townsend free down the left hand side, he then whipped in a peach of a ball that bypassed the whole lion defence for the magician Liam O’Neill to fire home back post 🩵🩵 1:0

We went into the break in front and words at half time were minimal we knew we just had to control the last 45.

Second half began much like the first, around 75 minutes the lion started to press and after a succession of very dangerous set pieces from Jay Ford that came to nothing it looked like we were going to hang on to victory that was until the 86 minute when a cross came in and after the Chase defence failed to clear came to Charl Turner who headed it onto the back post where Charlie Greensil headed home the equaliser which was a real sucker punch at the end of the game as the Chase thought they had done enough to clinch the trophy but it wasn’t to be and onto the lottery of penalties 🏆

The lion won 4:3 after penalties and remained champions of the Jock Corrigan Memorial Cup, fair play to their lads great set of players and credit to both teams to put on a great footballing display which showcased 2 Rugeley sides battling it out in front of a massive crowd to fund money for a great cause and in honour of a local legend 🏆👏

Collectively we managed to raise £1500 for St Giles Hospice which is amazing 🧡

This Sunday we take on Brereton Lion in the Prestigious Jock Corrigan memorial cup 🏆🏆🏆

The two local sides have faced off twice this season already in the premier league with honours even 🤝

With the biggest prize in Rugeley Football at stake, both teams will be putting everything on the line to take the cup home 🩵🏆

All proceeds from this cup will be donated to St Giles Hospice 🧡

Please join us in what promises to be a fantastic day all round for a great cause.

HMP Featherstone v The Chase FC

Today we travelled over to HMP Featherstone to play the prison, Always a tough game but the lads were on it from the off.

First goal came from Rio Robinson a well worked move from Curt Richards and Dan Conroy found Rio with acres of space on the right wing, Rio managed to score from a tight angle a great start 1-0. We was forced into a change bringing Connor Franklin on after Joey Cartwright got clattered for his bravery.

Connor made an instant impact! Rio playing a lovely ball up the line found Connor in space Connor squared it into Nath Edwards who swept home a great finish 2-0 Chase!

Featherstone always tried to play football throwing some strong challenges in they got there reward after some sloppy defending a shot from the edge of the chase box found its way into the Chase net! 2-1

Chase reaction was good after conceding a corner swung in by Curt flick on at the near post from Tony Stevenson and that man again Dan Lowe getting another goal from close range! 3-1

Middle of the park with Curt Richards, Dan Conroy, Jamie Clarke, and Nath Edwards were starting to get a grip now playing some good football, but it was Joey Cartwright among the assists for Chase’s 4th goal, Him an Nath Edwards linking up nicely in the Box for Nath’s second of the game a great finish, 4-1 going into halftime and the Chase could relax now.

Halftime 4-1

Second half We introduced James wall for Deebo who worked hard up top and was unlucky not to score keeper making a great stop to deny the big man. Woody an Rio having good games also at full back.

It was about game management now, keeping the ball and making Featherstone work. Max between the sticks making two big saves in the second half and overall had a great game.

The 5th goal was the best out the lot a lovely passing move from back to front found Nath Edwards in space he laid it into the path of James Wall free inside the 18 yard box he kept his calm an slotted it into net! 5-1

We took woody off with a tight hamstring brought the ever realible Usher on for the last 15 and he did a great Job in defending the lead.

All in all a huge result for the Chase possibly see’s us keeping our premier league status for another season.

Next week we travel to Radford rangers in the league! 🩵🏆

This morning we welcomed Woodseaves down to the hart school with only 3 points separating the 2 sides in the league it was going to be an interesting tie!

Woodseaves hit us with the first blow 5 minutes in when a mix up at the back saw 2 away players through on goal and made it 0:1

Joe Cartwright pulled one back when Woodseaves didn’t play to the whistle and Nath pulled it back across goal for Joe to put it past the keeper 1:1. Woodseaves then replied minutes later 1:2!

Just before the break a great corner from Raddon found the head of Gary Dunn who made no mistake and his header flew past the keeper 2:2 at half time.

Minutes into the 2nd half we took the lead and it was that duo again another corner from Sean Raddon found Deebo unmarked to power another header past the keeper 3:2

Woodseaves equalised from a cross which max misjudged and ultimately found its way into the net 3:3

Honours even game ended 3:3

MOTM Gary Dunn for his brace and won everything in the air all game 🏆👏

This Sunday we are back in premier league action 🩵🏆

We host Woodseaves FC down to the hart school, hoping to bounce back from a midweek defeat the lads have got a point to prove and should be a very good game 🏆🩵
