🎾 Help Improve Our Local Tennis Facilities! 🎾

We’re commencing an exciting community project to upgrade the tennis courts at Abbots Bromley Tennis Club — and we need your help!

The club is raising funds to:
✔️ Resurface the courts
✔️ Install new perimeter fencing
✔️ Add an electronic gate for easy pay-and-play access

These improvements will create a modern, safe, and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy tennis, stay active, and connect with others.

With over 100 years of history, the club is a real community hub — and this project will help secure its future for generations to come.

💛 Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.📣 If you can’t donate, please share and spread the word!

ABTC CELEBRATES BIG BIRTHDAYS

The Bagot was buzzing as ABTC members Judy Smith the Younger and Tony Leighton the Older shared their respective Big Birthday celebrations with club colleagues.

Brilliantly organised by Julia Ronson and Wendy Stringer, amazingly caked by the former and cunningly snapped by the latter (note the ticking clock in the main picture….), the event was a fun evening enjoyed by a good number of our village tennis club members.

MIXED DOUBLES DOUBLE

Richard Blundell and Julia Rushworth completed an ABTC tournaments double as they won the annual mixed doubles event on a sunny September afternoon at the village courts.

Three months after winning the club's 2025 Strictly come Wimbledon tournament, Richard and Julia triumphed again despite some strong opposition on the four-team finals day.

Pictured here is each of the teams with, of course, the winners taking centre stage to smilingly celebrate their success.

STRICTLY STRAWBERRIES? WELL….

It was hot. It was humid. It was demanding. But the hardy ABTC players battled on regardless (with the help of strawberries and cream, bottles of fizz and beer….) to complete yet another Strictly come Wimbledon tournament on our Abbots Bromley courts a day before those other players turn up for that annual event in SW19. Congratulations to our Strictly winners Julia Rushworth and Richard Blundell, and well done to each and every one of the other competitors on a fine afternoon’s tennis. Thanks also to the spectators in attendance, who showed their appreciation (along with a few chuckles) of the matches they viewed. Cheers one and all!
