Today Newbold Eagles travelled to Bugbrooke RFC for NE4. We had a depleted squad but with the help of our friends from Northampton BBOB we had a team that was ready to fight 👊🏻

Faye Taylor scored a consolation try in a humbling by the impressive Harbury but the 7-1 result certainly wasn't down to lack of effort.

We then played Stratford II with Faye again crossing the whitewash along with the speedster Rubee Johnson. We were holding Stratford to a 2-2 draw until the final few minutes where Stratford pulled away to win 4-2. Their ability to chop and change their team at will certainly was a big contributing factor in their victory.

After the break we went to play fellow Rugby side Old Laurentian. The game finished 4-1 to OL's who again had a much larger squad than us so had the luxury of rotating their team at will. Our girls kept going and Faye scored for the third league game in a row.

The final game was a match up against our hosts Bugbrooke. We were heavily aided by our friends from Harbury and got a 2-1 victory with another try Rubee and Alex M from Harbury grabbing one for us.

The attitude of the girls today was fantastic in trying conditions and we played some really good touch in patches. They should all be really proud of themselves. Faye captained the team brilliantly both on and off the pitch. Rubee and Bella put in their usual class performances too.

We would just like to thank Bedworth RFC ladies for helping us with the first few games, Bugbrooke RUFC - Ladies Touch Rugby for game 3 and for putting on such a good tournament and Harbury Hurricanes - Womens Touch Team for helping out in game 4.

A massive thank you though to Cara and Sophie from Northampton BBOB RFC for giving up their Sunday and being Eagles for the day. Without you two we wouldn't have played at all ❤️🖤

Eagles player of the day - Faye Taylor - Only found out she was captaining the team at 11am, guided the non touch players through the day, organised how she wanted the team play and lead from the front on the pitch with 3 tries 🦅

🏉 EAGLE SOARS ON THE NATIONAL STAGE! 🦅❤️🖤

A huge congratulations to Newbold Eagles player Willow Cross, who represented the North West Touch Under 14 Girls at the England Junior Nationals 2026 this weekend! 👏

The tournament took place at Gresham Sports Park in Nottingham on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August, bringing together some of the best young touch rugby players from across the country.

Willow and her NW Touch teammates had a fantastic weekend, finishing 2nd in their pool before progressing to the semi-finals.

After a dramatic semi-final against SW Saxons, which finished 1-1, NW Touch narrowly missed out on the final as the Saxons progressed by virtue of scoring first.

But there was still plenty to play for, and the girls finished their weekend in style, beating SE Sharks 4-3 in the third-place play-off to secure an excellent 3rd place finish nationally! 🥉

And Willow certainly made her mark! 💪

She scored in several games across the weekend, including in both her first and last matches on Saturday. Her final match of the day was particularly memorable, with Willow crossing the line after just 13 seconds! ⚡

When asked about her favourite part of the weekend, Willow said she loved it all, but apparently the diving was a particular highlight! 🤣

We're incredibly proud of Willow and everything she achieved this weekend. To represent your region at a national competition is a brilliant achievement, and to come home with a 3rd-place finish makes it even more special.

So today....

Rugby Gaels - Gaelic Football Team held their annual Michael Conway Cup and funday at Newbold-On-Avon RFC

3 of our Eagles 🦅 Aylish, Faye & Emma were part of the Newbold On Avon RFC women's team along with Iveta and Gracie from Newbold Revolution

Well they only went and won the tug of war 💪🏻 after going 1 - 0 down they came back to win 2 - 1 👏🏻

🦅 THANK YOU, ANITA 🦅

After around a year at the helm of Newbold Eagles, Anita Reeves has decided to step down as Head Coach.

Anita originally stepped into the role after having to retire from playing, putting her hand up to take on the challenge of leading our touch team. What followed has been a year of commitment, hard work and a real passion for helping the team develop.

One of Anita’s biggest focuses has been giving our younger players a strong grounding in touch rugby and helping them develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the game. She has played a huge part in creating a positive environment for our youngsters to grow in the sport.

On behalf of Newbold RFC, I would personally like to thank Anita for everything she has put into the role over the last year. She has been incredibly committed, consistently turning up for training, giving lifts, coordinating tournament Sundays and putting in a huge amount of effort behind the scenes to help Eagles continue to grow.

Anita currently has two exciting opportunities in front of her, and whilst we’re disappointed to see her step away, we completely understand and wish her every success with whichever path she chooses.

Anita, thank you for everything you have done for Eagles. Your commitment, energy and contribution have been hugely appreciated, and you should be proud of the foundations you have helped build.

Hopefully this isn't goodbye forever, and we'll see you back at Parkfield Road at some point in the future. 🦅
