FULL TIME: Caldecott Arms FC 1 - 0 The Webb
Three points and a clean sheet. 🧱
A professional performance saw the lads dig deep to secure a vital 1-0 win. After a tactical and tense opening, we found the breakthrough with a brilliantly worked set-piece: a trademark Vik throw-in, flicked on intelligently by Joe, and finished with class by Sam. đź’Ą
The headline today was the defensive solidity. Having Newby back in the team and alongside Addie at the heart of the defense is a welcome sight for the club; their partnership provided the perfect foundation for the result. 🤝
Between the sticks, Owen was an absolute wall, producing a string of top-tier saves to earn a well-deserved Man of the Match award.
Shoutout to Myke for powering through despite a painful blister, and to James,Neil, cam and Emilio for there tireless work rate not forgetting Ollie’s ninja-level ball recovery skills to keep us in the fight for survival
Focus now shifts to the cup final 🙌🏻

Advertiser Cup Semi-Final: A Masterclass in Pace and Width
This weekend brought our Advertiser Cup Semi-Final clash against Yelvertoft Vets—a side we knew would provide a real test. The team and formation were selected with a clear game plan: start fast and exploit them with width and pace.
The plan worked to perfection. Just 10 minutes in, Craig twisted his fullback inside out and played a brilliant ball across the box for Yami to slot home. Two more quick goals followed from Connor, including a beautifully finished 1-on-1 straight through the keeper’s legs. Craig then added a well-deserved fourth before the halftime whistle to put us firmly in control.
The second half followed much of the same script. A fifth goal scrambled in from a corner extended our lead before Vik produced the moment of the match: an unreal strike, lobbing the keeper from close to 40 yards out. Yelvertoft managed to pull a consolation goal back near the end, but it was a dominant performance from start to finish. Onto the final!

Not our day today — despite some pre-match optimism with a full bench for the first time in a while and a few lads finally returning.

We didn’t start with the intensity needed, though we managed to deal with most of their early pressure and showed a few promising moments going forward.

Stag took the lead following yet another questionable sequence of decisions. What should’ve been a clear goal kick was somehow given as a corner, and to top it off, their scorer climbed all over our defender at the back post to head home — both incidents ignored by the referee.

We levelled before the break through a Vik free kick, but luck wasn’t on our side, with Stag taking the lead again not long before half time.

We started the second half brighter after a few changes, but in truth, it turned into a scrappy affair with neither side creating much in the final third.

The game was effectively over when Neal was harshly penalised for what can only be described as standing still while their lad ran full pelt into him. Penalty given, converted, and any hopes of a comeback were gone.

Late on, Rhys saw red after a bit of handbags with one of their subs — both dismissed after the exchange.

If we’re honest, we didn’t do enough to deserve much from the game, but it’s still frustrating to keep finding ourselves on the wrong end of big calls.

MOTM: Addie — one of the few to emerge with real credit. Battled hard and made some crucial interventions.

DOTD: Also Addie — for nearly ending Joe’s career in the first half with a robust challenge on his team mate

A game where we felt we deserved more from it, despite only having a squad of 12 due to injuries and unavailability.

We started brightly, pressing high and forcing errors, with Yamz and Myke calmly slotting home one-on-ones after great team play to win the ball.

We fully deserved our lead, but Crow Pie hit back with a goal of their own and then controversially equalised from the penalty spot just before half-time.

It wasn’t the most polished footballing display from either side, but we kept pushing for the winner after the break, creating a couple of good chances before the visitors snatched it late on.

A frustrating day all round after getting our noses in front, but we’ll take it on the chin and move forward.

MOTD: Yamz – opened the scoring and was a menace throughout

DOTD: Myke – turned up with one soft-ground boot and one firm-ground boot

That was much better! After last week’s disappointment, we needed a reaction — and we delivered it this morning.

We were still without Newby, Emilio and Cam, all sidelined through injury, while Ahmed and Nickson were unavailable with work commitments. But we welcomed back Milan, Ollie and Vik into the squad after missing out last week.

Just like last time, we started brightly and grabbed another early goal. Craig did brilliantly down the right, cutting the ball back for Yamz, who finished in style with a sublime back-heel.

Midway through the half, an on-target strike from Myke was blocked and sat up kindly for Yamz, who thundered it home to double our lead.

Unfortunately, we repeated last week’s bad habit of conceding from a set piece just before half-time, as Brinklow pulled one back heading into the break.

We freshened things up with a few changes at half-time, and minutes later Yamz was clipped in the box. Myke stepped up and confidently restored our two-goal cushion from the spot.

We controlled the game well from there, our defence of Addie,Milan & joe soaking up any pressure before Vik pounced on a defensive mistake to calmly slide in our fourth.

Brinklow hit back when Milan was harshly penalised for what looked more like an interception than a pass-back, leading to their second and setting up a nervy finish.

But the game was soon settled thanks to some great work down the right. Myke whipped a ball across the box to an unmarked Rhys, who finished neatly for our fifth.

In the closing moments, H returned up top and had a golden chance to sign off his Calde career (for now) with a goal, only to see his effort saved. That earned him Dick of the Day — but also a good laugh from the lads.

All in all, a strong performance, a deserved three points, and a big step towards cup qualification this season.

POTM: Yamz – a constant threat, involved in our first three goals and clinical throughout.
