It’s Learning Disability Week, with this year’s theme “Do You See Me?” – a reminder to recognise, listen to, and truly value people with a learning disability, ensuring they are included, heard, and respected in their communities.

At Think Active, this is at the heart of everything we do. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be active in a way that suits them, helping to build confidence, improve wellbeing, and connect with others in a meaningful way.

This week is also a chance to celebrate organisations like Heart of England Mencap, which support people with learning disabilities to live active, independent, and fulfilling lives through supported living, respite care, and community activities that build skills, confidence, and friendships.

48% of accidental drownings happen between June and August*

Warm weather. Cold water. Real danger.

If you fall in or get into trouble, stay calm. Float on your back and call for help.
See someone struggling? Throw something that floats, like a football. Call 999, ask for the Coastguard if you’re at the coast.
Never enter the water to attempt a rescue.

Make sure your group knows what to do. It could save a life. Start by taking 5 minutes to learn the water safety code: www.rlss.org.uk/water-safety-code
