+++2026 CENTENARY PAIRS+++
After the original date was waterlogged, we finally got to hold our Annual Centenary Pairs competition at the club this afternoon
And what an afternoon it was!!
The sun was out, the sky was blue and the bowling was competitive!!
The 24 players were put into 12 pairs who made up 4 groups of 3 pairs each playing 2 games to decide 1 winner of each group
In the Blue Group, Barrie Kitson and Wayne Jones got over a narrow defeat in their opening game to finish with a PD of +6
In the Green Group, Zac Stott and Pam Simms were irrepressible as the won both their games to end with a PD of +15
The Red Group saw one pair win both their games but as a result of an outstanding victory in their 2nd game, Paul and Sue Fletcher were through with a PD of +11
The Yellow Group saw Brad Smalley and Matt Newton overpower their two opponents to end the battle with a PD of +18
The two Semi Finals were a bit one sided
Paul + Sue were 4 across with Barrie + Wayne before a run of 11 unanswered points concluded the game two ends early with Paul + Sue through to the final showdown
And it was a similar story in the other SF with Zac + Pam going on a 16 break after leading Brad + Matt 3-2 after 4 ends
The Final was a roller coaster with both pairs enjoying a run with the block. 7 across after 6 ends before Young Pam continued her excellent form all day with some quality leads complimented by her younger partner
Victory for Zac and Pam was confirmed one end from the end at 14-9; commiserations to Paul and Sue for an excellent effort but the winners of the 2026 Centenary Pairs are *Zac Stott and Pam Simms*
