First match of the Firefighters Angling Festival in Enniskillen Northern Ireland, supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
The wind had increased and was coming from the East. Nobody was sure what this would do to the fishing.
The results are as follows.
Winner was Derek Yorke, Cambs. Cornograde 32 with 19-700.
R/up was Tom Sexton, London, Portora 7 17-250
Third Dave Rees, Herts, Cornograde 18 15-900
London and Hertfordshire are joint 1st in the team competition both on 9 points.
The fishing wasn't as good as yesterday, the strong wind made fishing very difficult.
Wind is meant to be dropping tomorrow. Let's hope for a good 2nd day of competition.
Sorry no pictures.

Fire Service Angling Festival 2026, supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

What a difference a week makes. Last Wednesday as we arrived in the morning we were greeted with rain, sleet and a very cold wind. Fishing was very hard with bites at a premium.
Now with a bit of sun and the wind dropping the Erne has come to life.
Tuesday 21st April was our first match. An individual match with an open draw.
Sections were Airport Car Park, Cornograde from 15 to 32 and Portora School.
Everyone had bites and the weights were good with all sections needing at lestv16kg to win.
Winner from Portora 10 was Pete Lemon with 26kg. Runner up was Tom Sexton Cornograde 15 with 23kg.
Today sees the first of the Team and Individual 2 day event. Hopefully the weights will improve again. Something we did not think would be the case a week ago.
