Good Morning.

Today you may notice contractors working at Sherwood Lake. They are carrying out a water quality improvement project that involves adding calcium carbonate to the lake.

Calcium carbonate is a naturally occurring mineral (commonly found in limestone and chalk). When applied to lakes, it helps balance the water’s chemistry by gently raising alkalinity and stabilizing pH levels. This process can reduce excess nutrients in the water, limit algae growth, and improve overall water clarity and habitat conditions for aquatic life.

The material being used is safe, environmentally friendly, and widely used in lake management projects to support healthier water systems.

We appreciate your patience while this work is taking place and thank you for helping us keep Sherwood Lake healthy and enjoyable for everyone.

Hello all,

We are excited to announce a free fishing workshop for young people taking place at Sherwood Lake in 6th August.

This workshop is designed to engage young people - particularly younger children - in learning safe and responsible fishing practices, while also encouraging respect for the natural environment.

The session will be led by experienced professionals from Willowbank Generation, alongside staff from KHWP, ensuring a fun, educational, and safe experience for all participants.

The event is free but does require booking.

We recently received news about the great work that one local resident has been doing to help keep Sherwood Lake and Woodland clear of litter.

There has been a lot of empty cans, bottles and other litter that has found its way in and around the waters edge recently. Thank you to this young lad pictured below who has spent his own time making a difference in his local greenspace, clearing up what he could collect on his walk.

If you have any time whilst out on your walk to pick up a few pieces of rubbish, it would not only improve the aesthetics of woodland, but also help to improve the quality of habitat for wildlife as well as the experience for yourself and other users at Sherwood.

Please remember to take your rubbish home with you, or put it in the nearest available bins.

‼️This week we have a contractor at Sherwood Lake improving the fishing swims around the lake. 🎣 The work will include improving the access to the swims especially around the back of the lake on the woodland side, as well as re-surfacing the swims themselves! There will be heavy machinery in use so please take care whilst out enjoying the woodland! 🌳🌳

This Thursday (27th) come along to meet KHWP volunteers, learn about what they do on site, and have a wander around with a guide!
