πŸ’› Gentle Facts for Real Life

Today's topic was suggested by one of my lovely clients...

Creaky knees!

It's something many of us experience as we get older, but that doesn't automatically mean we should stop moving.

In fact, gentle movement, walking, strength work and balance training can all play an important role in keeping us active and independent.

Save for a few gentle facts about looking after our knees.

Do your knees sometimes remind you they're there? 🦡😊

I haven't felt quite myself this week, and if I'm honest the sofa seemed a tempting option this morning.

But a gentle walk, some fresh air and a little sunshine usually help me feel better than staying indoors all day.

So off we went.

There may have been a muddy puddle.
There was definitely a muddy dog.
And there was certainly some hosing down involved afterwards! πŸ˜‚πŸΆ

Now I'm sitting in the garden with a coffee, enjoying the sunshine and feeling grateful that I got outside.

A reminder that movement doesn't always have to be a workout.

Sometimes it's simply a walk, a breath of fresh air and a moment to enjoy the day πŸ’›

Not every day feels fabulous.

Some days we wake up full of energy and ready to take on the world.

And some days we don't.

The older I get, the more I realise that looking after ourselves isn't about pushing harder all the time.

Sometimes it's a workout.
Sometimes it's a walk.
Sometimes it's a few gentle stretches, a cuddle with the dog and a quiet coffee.

Listening to our bodies is important too πŸ’›

So if you're not feeling your best today, be kind to yourself.

Move if it feels good.
Rest if you need to.
Take a breath.
Slow down.

Because looking after yourself doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Do what you can with the day you have πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›

One of the biggest barriers to exercise is thinking we need lots of time.

An hour.
A gym session.
The perfect plan.

But what if you only had a minute?

While the kettle boils...
While dinner is cooking...
While you're waiting for a phone call...

A few squats.
A few press-ups against the kitchen counter.
A little balance practice.
A quick march on the spot.

It might not seem like much, but these little moments add up πŸ’›

And on days like today, when the weather can't quite decide what it's doing (hailstones included! πŸ˜‚), it's a reminder that we don't need perfect conditions to move our bodies.

We just need to start where we are.

Because little things really do count πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›

One of the things I hear most often is:

"I need to get fitter before I come and see you."

But honestly... that's a bit like saying you need to get better at driving before you have driving lessons 😊

The whole point is that we start where you are.

You don't need to be fit.
You don't need to know what you're doing.
You don't need expensive gym clothes or the latest trainers.

You just need to be able to move comfortably and be willing to take that first step πŸ’›

My little Cabin isn't full of mirrors or intimidating equipment.

It's simply a place where women can build strength, confidence and fitness in a supportive and friendly environment.

And it's just me here 😊

Meeting you where you are and helping you move forward.

Because it's never too late to start looking after yourself πŸ’›

There are so many things we do every day without even thinking about them.

Getting up from a chair.
Putting on our shoes.
Carrying shopping.
Reaching into a cupboard.

They're such ordinary parts of life that we barely notice them.

But these are exactly the reasons I encourage women to stay active, build strength and keep moving as they get older πŸ’›

Because strength isn't really about lifting weights.

It's about maintaining the freedom, confidence and independence to keep doing the things we enjoy for as long as possible.

The little things matter 😊

What everyday task are you most grateful your body allows you to do?

As another weekend draws to a close, I find myself feeling grateful πŸ’›Life doesn't always turn out exactly as we imagined...

As another weekend draws to a close, I find myself feeling grateful πŸ’›

Life doesn't always turn out exactly as we imagined it might.

There have been times when I've looked back and thought things would be different by now. Different circumstances, different plans, a different path.

But over the years I've learnt something important.

A life doesn't have to be perfect to be good.

Tonight, I'm grateful for my little home and the garden that brings me so much joy. Grateful for a body that is strong and healthy enough to carry me through walks, dancing, work and all the things I love to do.

I'm grateful for family and friends who make me laugh, support me and remind me what really matters.

And I'm grateful for all the opportunities that still lie ahead.

Because no matter our age, there are still adventures to have, new things to learn, risks worth taking and memories waiting to be made.

So tonight I'm choosing gratitude for what I have, and excitement for what is still to come 😊

Here's to a new week, new opportunities and continuing to make the very most of this one precious life πŸ’›

A rainy day doesn't have to be a wasted day β˜”πŸ’›

Today included a wet walk with the dog, tea and cake in the rain, a long soak in the bath and later, a quiz night with friends.

Not every day has to be exciting.

Not every day has to be productive.

Sometimes the little things are enough 😊

One of the reasons I care so much about staying active and looking after my health is because I want to keep enjoying these ordinary moments for as long as possible.

The walks.
The friendships.
The spontaneous plans.
The cups of tea.
The simple joys.

Because being fit for life isn't just about exercise.

It's about having the energy, confidence and freedom to enjoy life as it happens πŸ’›

πŸ’› Gentle Facts for Real Life

One of the biggest misconceptions about strength training is that it's all about lifting heavy weights.
In reality, strength is about everyday life.
It's about climbing stairs with confidence, carrying the shopping, getting up from the sofa more easily and keeping up with the people we love.
The good news?
You don't need to spend hours exercising, and it's never too late to start.
A little strength work done consistently can make a real difference to how we feel now and in the years ahead 😊
