Young people in Barnsley recently contributed to developing the National Youth Strategy https://bit.ly/4wjC2Tx and gave us feedback to help us identify their top five priorities and what matters most locally here in Barnsley. These priorities are:
Keeping young people safe - protect YP from harm by improving community safety and early support for those at risk
Friends and relationships - help YP to build positive friendships and social connections, reducing loneliness and improving confidence
Health & wellbeing - Improve access to mental health support, helping young people stay healthy and resilient
Good work - Support young people to develop skills and access good-quality jobs and careers, with clear pathways to employment
Trusted adults - every YP should have access to a consistent, supportive adult they can turn to for guidance and support
We now want to see if the youth offer in Barnsley is good enough to support you and check if it contributes to making the priorities you've identified better. We want to understand if you know what's on offer, if it's accessible, relevant, of good quality and if there are any gaps in what you can access.
