Welcome to Rotherham's best, and only, award-winning dance school! The Thompson Dance Studios has been an integral part of Rotherham's community since the original school opened in 1932 and it continues to grow today. We strive to make TDS a safe, welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors and pride ourselves on offering the highest standards of IDTA training available- with many of
our students progressing into further dance training, or into professional jobs on cruises, in the west end, with ballet companies and within the television and film industries. We were fortunate enough to be awarded the 'Community Service in Dance' award at the 2021 Dance School of the Year awards for our continuation of Zoom classes during the coronavirus lockdowns. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of all our TDS staff, students and their families. We offer IDTA classes in Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft and Jazz with examination sessions taking place throughout the year and a bi-annual show at Rotherham Civic Theatre. We also offer adult classes, as well as a parent and toddler class, group lessons, 1:1 private tuition and dance teacher training upon request. All classes are delivered by fully qualified and DBS checked staff.
