A new era begins at Rotherham United Women
We are delighted to confirm that Phil Smith and Scott Thorpe have become the new owners of Rotherham United Women Football Club.
After a period of uncertainty, the message is now clear.
This club is not here to survive.
This club is here to compete.
This club is here to win.
Our ambition is simple: back-to-back promotions.
We want to build a team that plays attacking, entertaining football, scores goals, excites supporters and gives Rotherham a women’s football club it can properly get behind.
We want bigger crowds.
We want stronger engagement.
We want more families at games.
We want more young girls in Rotherham wearing the badge, watching the team and believing there is a pathway for them in football.
This club has been kept alive by players, coaches, volunteers, families and supporters who care deeply about RUWFC. They protected the club through difficult times, and they deserve huge credit.
Now it is time to build on that.
On the pitch, we will be ambitious.
Off the pitch, we will be louder, more visible and more connected to the town.
The first target is back-to-back promotions.
Then we start building towards challenging for a place in the Women’s Super League.
That will take time, structure, investment and belief, but that is the level of ambition we want this club to have.
We want schools, grassroots clubs, local businesses, families and supporters to come with us.
The target is promotion.
The style is attacking football.
The mission is to put Rotherham United Women on the map.
A new era starts now.
