Chess club meeting this evening, as usual, at 6pm upstairs in The Queens Head. All are welcome! If you have any mobility issues that make the stairs difficult, please let us know. Some/all of us can always come downstairs and play chess there if it makes it easier for someone else.

We're meeting tonight in the ground floor back room due to works in progress in the breakfast room - turn right into the dining room and then left at the end of the room!

We'll be meeting tonight at 6pm at the cosy The Queens Head, but due to new flooring being installed in the breakfast room there's a chance we'll have to meet in the back function room (turn right instead of taking the stairs, and left at the end of the dining room). So if we're not upstairs, we'll be there!

Looking for volunteers to help put up posters in the surrounding area. I keep meaning to, and it always slips my mind! I've got A4 ones ready to go and can easily print smaller for those noticeboards with limited space. I can also laminate them if necessary.

If you're willing to help and put one up in your village all of us at the club would be most grateful. Please call/message/pop in and see me at Colliedog Computers in Rothbury :)

You may enjoy the episode about chess on Netflix's 'Explained' series (Season 3, Episode 9) - narrated by Rainn Wilson, perhaps best known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the US adaption of The Office). Nice pacing and well explained for new players.

If it whets your appetite for one of the greatest games humans have invented, come and learn the game with us tomorrow at 6pm, at The Queens Head, who kindly host us each Wednesday.

Drinks optional, no membership fees, it's all very informal and mostly casual players.

This enlightening series from Vox digs into a wide range of topics such as the rise of cryptocurrency, why diets fail, and the wild world of K-pop.

Chess as usual tonight: 6pm at The Queens Head (upstairs)

All are welcome regardless of age or skill level (or anything else, for that matter). For those with mobility issues one of us can always come downstairs to play you in a more accessible area in the pub.

Our members are mostly casual players who are more interested in a few friendly games rather than competition and tournaments, and we will happy teach new players, so do come along if you're at all interested in learning this ancient game; it's more fun than you might think!

We'll be playing chess as usual at the The Queens Head (upstairs) at 6pm this evening, all ages and skill levels are welcome. We are always happy to teach new players so do come along if you'd like to try something new, it's a fantastic game!

Fortunately the Queens Head kindly provide us with a lovely quiet space in which to play, unlike the pictured janitor's closet from a certain Netflix series!
