The Wilton Bridge Petanque team have won promotion to the Marches League First Division for the first time in its history.
For the majority of the Club’s 60 plus members playing socially at Ross Sports Centre is enough exercise and fun, but some of the keener players wanted to have more competition, so the club has entered a team in the local Marches League for the past three years.
The league involves home and away matches against teams in Almeley, Allensmore, Brecon, Eardisley, Hereford, Peterchurch and Preston-on-Wye on a variety of pistes.
The team has improved over the years, finishing third last year and now champions of the Second Division. It means promotion to the First Division for 2026 and a big challenge to improve the team’s performance.
Regardless of whether you just want good fun and healthy outdoor exercise in a happy sociable environment or the opportunity to join a competitive team in the Marches League, Wilton Bridge Petanque Club is happy to greet novice and experienced players at Ross Sports Centre.
