Ross Juniors U11s JPL v Cinderford Town Blues – 12/09/26

In only their second JPL appearances, Ross Juniors U11s and their local opponents Cinderford Town Youth produced an entertaining, end-to-end match in Bristol that was a great advert for the JPL.

Ross Squad: Toby, Elijah, Henry, Jack, Louie, George, Mason, Pari, Nathan and Ollie

Despite lots of goals at both ends, all three goalkeepers performed well. The finishing from Ross Juniors was particularly impressive: Ollie again showing his eye for goal, while Henry, Mason and Nathan also got on the score sheet.

Both teams competed strongly and fairly for the ball, with both sides showing grit in the challenges and producing some excellent passages of passing football.

Following last week’s promising start, this was another very good performance from Ross, who showed strength and desire out of possession, and good awareness and decision making when breaking forward.

A GAME OF MISSED CHANCES

A tough opening game for us against Redditch Borough, ending in a 3–2 defeat.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives. We created numerous chances, showed great character and never stopped fighting. Goals from Malsom and Creed gave us hope, and we had a late penalty saved as we pushed for an equaliser.

Football can be cruel, but the girls kept going right until the final whistle. 💪

We dust ourselves down, learn from the game and go again next week in the Women’s Adobe FA Cup against Yate.

Playing last seasons Hereford Junior Boys League Champions was always going to be a challenge for our U14 Girls and although the scoreline was a fair reflection on how strong Wellington are, our Girls rose to that challenge.
Wellington scored some superb goals, along with a few that our girls will need to reflect and address on improving, but that’s exactly what the aim is this season.
The work rate, effort and team spirit from Ross was outstanding, and today more meaningful than losing 0-9 today.

What a game in the League Cup Group Stage! Our girls battled hard against Tuffley U12s despite the awful, wet conditions.
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made it through to the next round! With lots of goals scored and Annabelle almost achieving a clean sheet and a penalty saved. The team showcased incredible performance and teamwork.

⚽ Ross U12 Colts vs Abbeymead Scorpions

Ross U12 Colts travelled away to face Abbeymead Scorpions today in what turned out to be an exciting and closely fought match.

The squad consisted of Will, Harry, Frankie, Jasper, Lee, Kaiden, Charlie, Jesaiah, Arthur, Dylan and Coen.

With perfect footballing conditions and the boys in great spirits, Ross started the game positively and enjoyed a high percentage of possession. However, Abbeymead came onto the pitch determined to secure the win and made the most of their opportunities, taking a 4–0 lead.

Having not faced the Colts before, Abbeymead may not have expected the resilience and determination that this Ross side has developed. The boys showed fantastic character, regrouped and refused to let their heads drop.

Just before half-time, Jesaiah found the back of the net, giving Ross a much-needed boost and setting the stage for an impressive second-half comeback.

Going into the second half 4–1 down, the Colts came out with their game faces on and really dug deep. Within minutes, Coen struck twice, bringing Ross right back into contention.

Despite continuing to dominate possession, the Colts initially struggled to find the equaliser. That was until Dylan stepped up and delivered, bringing the score level at 4–4!

With a little more time on the clock, the match genuinely could have gone either way. It was a fantastic, well-matched contest between two determined sides, and we look forward to meeting Abbeymead again in our upcoming Cup match.

Ross U10’s were back in action again today, making the long trip to Leominster for their second game of the season.

The boys gave a much improved performance, looking to keep the ball and control the game. Goals came from Joshua and Reuben before Lucas scored on his league debut. A fantastic game by Brodie, George, Jack, Arthur, Lucas, Ted, Harry, Reuben and Joshua, well done!
