🔴⚫️ Weston Youth FC vs Leominster Lions

NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!

We welcomed Leominster Lions to Weston on a warm, sunny but blustery day, and today felt like the real start of our season!

From the first whistle, the team played with confidence, energy and purpose. We dominated the action and put together some fantastic football, with some really good link-up play between multiple players.

Our defensive performance was excellent today. The whole team stayed disciplined with their positioning, worked hard for each other and made sure we remained organised throughout.

It was also a big day for our two new players, Jacob and Hudson, who both got their first taste of action for the club. 👏

After some early nerves, Hudson settled brilliantly and went on to have a fantastic debut — even capping it off with a ⚽️ GOAL! What a way to start your Weston journey!

Jack C was incredibly unlucky not to get his first goal for the club, with his effort coming back off the post! It won't be long, Jack!

Jack F was a constant threat to the Leominster defence, making some fantastic strong runs and putting in a huge shift for the team. He got the reward he deserved with a brilliant goal after another dazzling run!

Zach worked tirelessly up front and is really starting to settle into the team. Another excellent performance from him today. 👏

Weston Youth U12 vs Harrow Hill U12 🔴⚫

Another excellent team performance today in our home game against Harrow Hill.

We controlled the game for long periods, making the ball do the work and showing some really good passing football. Our use of triangles and movement off the ball helped us create space and consistently open up the opposition.

🌟 Players of the Match

Jack — A commanding performance in defensive midfield. He protected the defence brilliantly, won the ball back and drove the team forward.

Max — Excellent movement and a real creative spark playing behind the front two. He found pockets of space throughout the game and created a number of great chances for his teammates.

Most pleasing was the way we played as a team — composed in possession, moving the ball quickly and trusting each other.

Another great team performance to be proud of. Well done everyone! 🔴⚫

💥 MATCH REPORT U8s 💥

Weston U8s v Wellington U8s

What a fantastic first outing of the season for the Weston U8s!

The full squad — Vinnie, Raffy, Tommy, Charlie, Louie, Joel, Fred, Freddie and Finley — took to the pitch for a 40-minute match, played in quarters. The format worked perfectly, allowing plenty of opportunities for player changes and ensuring everyone had a good amount of time on the pitch.

The boys had a slightly slow start, conceding a few goals early on, but they quickly found their stride and battled their way back to make things much more level.

The movement up the pitch was fantastic, the passing was excellent and, most importantly, their attitude was even better! There was plenty of determination, teamwork and effort on display from every player.

The final quarter proved challenging, particularly with some strong substitutions from the opposition, and unfortunately the final score didn’t quite reflect the quality of football the boys had played throughout the match.

However, they should all be incredibly proud of themselves. This was not only their first match of the season, but their first ever experience of playing in the league, and they showed exactly the kind of attitude and team spirit we could have hoped for.

A brilliant effort from the whole squad — well done, boys! ⚽️👏

💥MATCH REPORT U13s 💥

Weston U13s vs. Ledbury U13s

Weston hosted Ledbury for the 2nd home league fixture of the season.

The squad: Matas (GK), Dexter, William, Archie J (C), Oscar, Sam, Archie D, Reggie, Bailey, Jay, Jasper, Jasper and Oliver.

Weston got off to a promising start, applying lots of pressure and creating a few good chances early on. However, Ledbury were to get on the scoresheet first, followed by a second from a wicked deflection.

The boys kept battling and played some nice football, but unfortunately couldn’t stop Ledbury getting their third, despite numerous attempts at a well oiled Ledbury keeper.

A few words of encouragement at half time and Weston came back out in the second half fighting. A goal from Jay and they were right back in it. The woodwork was hit twice, and Bailey managed to get a goal, tightening the game right up. This was turning into a proper battle and a pleasure to watch, albeit a bit tense.

Ledbury broke, and another unfortunate deflection saw the away team’s lead extended once again. However, Weston hit back with a superb goal from Reggie, who had been unlucky not to get a hat-trick this evening.

This was a really great game of football to watch and, on another day, the result could quite easily have been different. Regardless of the result, though, the boys gave 100% throughout the game, and that’s all we as coaches can ask for.

Player of the Match was awarded to Archie J for his solid performance in defence and for communicating well with his teammates.

WESTON YOUTH Vs BELMONT JUNIORS

🔴Weston U14s started their Herefordshire Junior league season with a home game against Belmont Wanderers Juniors.

⚫️Due to injury and unavailability the squad today was Jack B (gk), Chase (c), George, Jacob K, Ted, Harry, Fred, Alfie, Jamie, Jack J, Thomas, Jacob CB and Conor.

🔴Having being promoted back into the top league, the boys knew this was going to be a difficult game and so it proved.

⚫️The game started with Belmont on the front foot, with Weston looking to hit on the break. The boys were showing great resilience but an unfortunate ricochet saw Belmont in on goal to open the scoring. The boys continued to work hard for each other but Belmont were given a bit too much space to double their lead. With halftime approaching, Belmont were awarded a penalty, but Jack B pulled off a great to save to keep the ball out.

🔴The second half saw Weston try and get a foothold in the game, they battled tirelessly but with tired legs and minds Belmont took control and scored a further four goals without reply.

⚫️A tough opening match for Weston today but they can’t be disappointed with the performance and the effort they showed.

🏆Player of the match couldn’t be separated between Alfie and Harry, who both left everything out on the pitch with their incredible work rate and determination. 💪🏻👏🏻

Weston Youth vs. Bromyard

🔴Weston welcomed Bromyard for their first home league game of the season.

⚫️The squad: Matas (GK), Dexter, William, Archie J (C), Oscar, Sam, Archie D, Reggie, Bailey, Jay, Jasper, Jasper and Oliver.

🔴Weston started positively, confidently passing the ball around and settling into the game quickly. They played some quality football across every inch of the pitch. After a few early missed opportunities, Sam was the first to find the back of the net, giving Weston a deserved lead. Not taking their foot off the gas, the boys continued to press hard and dealt with any threat from a strong Bromyard team.

⚫️With the pressure constantly being applied, it wasn’t long before Sam once again picked up a stray ball and slotted home his second goal of the game.

🔴In the second half, Weston lost a little of their shape, giving Bromyard a few opportunities on goal, only to be denied by Matas, who made some superb saves.The individual battles continued throughout the half, but it was Weston who fought the hardest. A lovely link-up between the strikers resulted in a pass to Oliver on the left wing, who found himself in space and calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to increase Weston’s lead.

⚫️They continued to hold off Bromyard until the final whistle, working tirelessly and securing a well-deserved three points in their opening home game.

🔴Well done to every individual player on the field today. This was a fantastic team performance, so much so that a single player couldn’t be chosen for Player of the Match. Therefore, the Player of the Match award went to the whole team.

💥 MATCH REPORT U9s 💥

🔴First game of the season Weston U9s against a new team in the Ludlow Knights.

⚫️A well matched game from the start, played in good spirits and with some excellent play.
It was great to have a full team back with Max, Josh, Tommy, Lewis, Rowan, Ben, Hugo and Sam all showing great team spirit through the game.

🔴Ludlow took the lead with a nice bottom corner strike after Weston had struggled to find the back of the net from multiple shots.
Weston kicked in to gear and some nice interplay between the players led to a goal from Sam. Josh followed this up with a quick kick in and a long shot finding the top corner to go in to the break just ahead.

⚫️Ludlow came out strong in the second half managing to level it up quickly after they overloaded the attack.
Some end to end play, big kicks by the goalies and strong tackles kept every one needing to be on top form but Weston managed to press ahead with Josh and Sam finding the net again.

🔴A great game and thank you to Ludlow for making the long journey and making it an enjoyable game.

🏆 Awards went to Sam for parents player and Hugo for coaches player. 👏🏻

🔴A reversed fixture today saw Coreley make the trip to Weston, with the sun shining and the perfect conditions for football!

⚫️With just 7 players and no substitutes, we knew it was going to be a tough one, but what a performance from the whole team!

🔴Everyone worked incredibly hard, played some great football and showed fantastic determination from start to finish. 💪

⚫️Mia got herself on the scoresheet and came close to adding another, while Zachary was also unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after coming close a few times.

🔴There were a few moments where things didn't quite go our way, but the team kept going and never gave up. With no opportunity to rest, the tired legs were definitely starting to show towards the end, but every player gave absolutely everything they had. ❤️🖤

Weston Youth 🆚 Leominster Town

🔴What a fantastic start to our first league match which ended with a well-deserved victory against Leominster Town.

⚫️Every player contributed to the team today. The boys worked hard for each other, showed great commitment and played as a team from start to finish. Zhenya opened the scoring with an excellent finish, giving us a great start to the game. Harley was always looking for an opportunity to score and took advantage of every chance he had, finishing the game with two goals. Oscar also put in a fantastic performance, showing excellent defensive work and making quick transitions from defence into attack.
