A first for the RS21 Class - joining Cowes Week! ⛵️🇬🇧 And what a week it was!

The 200th Anniversary of Cowes Week brought together 600+ entries for one big celebration of sailing.

The first weekend saw 3 days of racing for the RS21 UK & Ireland Cup Round 4, before the RS21 fleet stayed on to take on the rest of the week, racing for the RS21 Overall.

And the Solent delivered! Glamorous conditions, big breeze, tricky tides and plenty of the close, competitive racing that Cowes Week is famous for. 🌊

The UK contingent made up the majority of the fleet, but it was fantastic to welcome some international competition too. The Magenta Project joined the fleet on charter, with Olympic gold medallist Xu Lijia on board, while the prize for the longest journey went to the team from Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, who travelled all the way from Hong Kong to charter an RS21 and join the action. 🇭🇰

Another cracking day of sunshine on the Solent as Day 3 of the RS21 UK & Ireland Cup comes to a close at the world-famous North Sails Cowes Week.

A special shout out to the team all the way from Hong Kong taking to the water in a chartered RS21, adding some brilliant international flavour to this prestigious 200th edition of Cowes Week.

Nine races down, and the fleet has been fighting hard for every position. Here's the final standings:

The RS21 fleet is racing as part of the 200th Cowes Week Regatta 🎉

This is a special event; Round 4 of the UK & IE Cup and Round 3 of the RS21 EuroCup, part of the North Sails Cowes Week 200. The fleet of RS21s line up alongside more than 600 boats for the bicentenary, as the Solent is buzzing with action for one of sailing's most iconic regattas.

Day 1 belonged to GBR 252 Dark & Stormy Sailing Team, who claimed 3 bullets from 3 races in the light wind. 💥

Today, the breeze is building, and it's looking like ch*****ne sailing conditions. With 3 races scheduled today and a further 3 on Monday to conclude the event, there's still everything to play for.

First up, Mark Jardine joins Alex Newton-Southon and Michiel Geerling, amongst the thousands of sailors, fans and holidaymakers, to hear more about the concept behind the RS Games and what makes this fourth edition of the event unique.

Next, Mark chats with Dave and Caroline Exley, competing in the RS21 fleet as part of their European tour in the class. Coming from the RS400 fleet, they’re enjoying the opportunity to try something different and take on a new challenge.

Finally, Mark catches up with Scott and Elsie Munro, who have been making the most of the RS Games experience. They sailed together in the RS800 European Championship during the first half of the event, with Elsie at the helm, before she switched roles to crew in the RS Feva World Championship for the second half.
