Ampfield & North Baddesley Cricket Club A friendly village cricket club, founded in 1888. The village of Ampfield is situated between Romsey and Hursley.

Ampfield and North Baddesley CC, a friendly club, with three Saturday sides in the Hampshire Cricket League, midweek Border League & Southampton Evening League sides and four Colts teams at U9 & U11s level. We currently run two Saturday teams, playing in the Hampshire Cricket League and a midweek side playing in the Border League on Tuesday Evenings. Our home ground, Ampfield Recreation Ground is set in idyllic surroundings on Wi******er Road (A3090), next to The White Horse Pub, which is visible from the road. We warmly welcome any new members, regardless of ability (it’s enthusiasm that counts) who would be interested in playing for us. We encourage anyone and everyone to visit us – including our long-suffering wives, girlfriends and families! We also give a warm welcome to all visiting players and supporters.

Good morning ANBCC! 🏏 It's the final day of the season — while the weather is looking against us, here are our teams if we can get some last bits of cricket for 2026

1️⃣ Our 1st XI travel to Sparsholt CC 2nd XI (Norman Edwards Cricket Ground, Sparsholt)
2️⃣ The 2nd XI host Cadnam CC 3rd XI at Ampfield Recreation Ground
3️⃣ The 3rd XI welcome Southampton Super Kings CC 1st XI to North Baddesley Recreation Ground

The 1s go into it on the back of five straight wins, looking to clinch promotion today 🔥 The 2s have already sealed their promotion and will be out to end the season in style 🎉

All three games due to start at 1pm — the forecast isn't looking too kind ☔ but fingers crossed we get some cricket today. Come down and support if you can! 💚🤍

This week we saw our ladies finish their second competative session of W10 with a fantastic win over Romsey.

It's been a brilliant season for the ladies and well done everyone involved, special mention to Chand and Andy for coaching this summer.

Sunday saw something pretty special down at Ampfield Rec 🏏

Our U13 Colts stepped up alongside senior club members for an inter-club 40-over game, and what a sight it was. Families lined the boundary to watch the next generation mix it with the adults, and the talent on show was exactly why we're so excited about the future of this club

Massive well done to every single player who took part, and a huge thank you to the coaches who put the whole thing together - none of this happens without you.

Looking ahead, we can't wait to start introducing these lads into our 3rd and 4th XI sides next summer as we continue to grow the club from the ground up 🌱

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏

Huge day for the club — congratulations to the 2nd XI on securing PROMOTION! 🎉🎉🎉

2nd XI smashed a club record 391/4 — the biggest total the 2s have ever posted! AB (147), Harry Sorrell (96) and Graham Baker (109*) all shone, with Jake Mayor also chipping in. With the ball, Andy Holding (3-26) led the charge as Redlynch & Hale were restricted to 142/9, sealing a huge win and, with it, promotion — the club's main aim for the season, achieved! What a reward for a season of consistent availability and effort from the whole squad.

1st XI produced arguably their best batting display of the season, posting 322/8 against Fair Oak. Ramnik Behar (85) and Shilpan Shah (72) both hit fifties, with plenty of others chipping in around them. In the field, Matt Brown, Simon Huffer, Prashant Sagar and Tom Holmes all took multiple wickets as Fair Oak were pushed all the way to 192/9 — agonisingly, the last wicket wouldn't fall, costing the full bonus point haul. Still 23 out of 24 points, a fantastic return, but it leaves Langley Manor just 0.02 ahead on points average going into the final round. It's now down to the final Saturday at Sparsholt — a big win there gives us every chance. All to play for!

3rd XI had a tough day against a strong Oakmount side, bowled out for 92 despite a battling 42* from Dave Allen, before Oakmount chased it down in quick time.

Massive week ahead for the club — the 2nds finish the season in style aiming to end Cadman's unbeaten run, and the 1sts head to Sparsholt for a huge title-race finale. Let's get behind both sides!

🏆🏆 BORDER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 🏆🏆

In the first year of the club entering two teams in the Border League, our 1st XI, in Simon Huffer's first year at the helm, went unbeaten all season and won EVERY single game to finish top of the table 👏 We are looking forward to moving up to Division 1 next year.

Huge congratulations to every player who played this season. It was a huge effort from the club and both captains to field 2 teams midweek and not have to forfeit a game. 🙌

The presentation evening was after the Cup Final at Cadnam, where a few of the player went to collect the silverware. Celebrations continued with a well earned curry after 🍛 Cheers to a fantastic season!

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏

A brilliant weekend for the Amps — all three teams won on the same day for the third time this season, a feat that's never happened before across all previous seasons with three sides! 👏👏👏

1st XI made light work of Old Tauntonians & Romsey, bowling them out for just 86 — Simon Huffer and Prashant Sagar were both outstanding, taking 4 wickets apiece at just over 3 an over. And an incredible piece of athleticism from the skipper for an insane run out than sent the stump cartwheeling out the ground. The chase was wrapped up inside 10 overs, with Ramnik Behar leading the way unbeaten on 34 off just 17 balls.

2nd XI posted a huge 275/5 against Bramshaw, with Gunner back to his very best — an unbeaten 131, never in doubt of reaching his century. He was well supported by Jim Khan (44) and Ashley Gunner (48). But Bramshaw fought back hard on a good track, and it took some real nerve in the middle overs and beyond to see the game home — Andy Holding (3-37) and Sam Fielder (0-37) both bowled tight spells, while Dan Kimber held his nerve superbly in the closing stages, finishing with 3-41 off 8, including two wickets in the penultimate over. A proper nail-biter that went right down to the wire — and fittingly, both the 1st and 3rd team squads made their way back to a packed clubhouse to watch the finale unfold together. Brilliant scenes.

3rd XI were excellent all round — every bowler chipped in with a wicket to restrict South Wi******er, before an imperious unbeaten century from David Surridge (103*) led the chase home, well supported by Dominic Turner (25) and Conor Lauder (13*), for the loss of just one wicket. Best wishes to Conor for a speedy recovery from a broken hand picked up during the game.

Still everything to play for in the final two matches, with both the 1st and 2nd XIs holding a real chance of promotion.

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏

What a day for the Amps — two brilliant wins that secure both sides' positions in the table! 👏

1st XI produced a huge team effort to chase down 247 against Compton & Chandlers Ford, getting home with the very last ball of the match! Prath Salaskar led the way with a superb 96, well supported by Shiv Chowdhury (46) and Ramnik Behar (17), before Prashant Sagar and Simon Huffer saw it home under real pressure. Tahsin Ar Rahman also had a huge game behind the stumps, taking a couple of sharp catches and a run out. A nerve-shredder and an absolutely massive win for the season — some brilliant, controlled bowling and battling fielding throughout got the job done. Three more to go!

2nd XI were absolutely superb from start to finish, bowling out Breamore Dravidian for just 96 — Josh Beer (4-10) and Andy Holding (4-15) ran through the order — before chasing it down inside 19 overs. Harry Sorrell (37) led the run chase, with Jake Mayor, Jim Khan and Ashley Gunner all chipping in. One of the best performances of the season — bowling, batting and fielding all firing together.

Two huge results, two spots secured — brilliant work all round Amps 🔥
