Most women are told to focus on the number on the scale.

But according to Dr Vonda Wright, one of the strongest predictors of health, independence, mobility and longevity isn’t body weight.

Some people think all we talk about at Empower Fitness is calories and workouts. 🤣

But what we’re really helping women build is confidence, strength and freedom.

Five years ago today, I walked into Itchen 2 Train for my very first job as a personal trainer. I thought I was simply starting a career helping women get stronger, healthier, and more confident. I had no idea how much it would change my own life too.

Watching women grow in confidence, achieve things they never thought possible, and completely transform the way they felt about themselves quickly became something I loved more than I can explain.

Then in November 2022, life came full circle when I took over the studio and rebranded it as Empower Fitness.

What started as a gym became so much more. It became a safe space. A support system. A place filled with encouragement, laughter, resilience, and friendships that I will always be grateful for.

There have been moments over the last few years where life felt incredibly heavy and I genuinely didn’t know how I would get through them, but this community gave me purpose when I needed it most. The women around me lifted me up, reminded me who I was, and helped me rebuild myself alongside building a business.

People often think fitness is only about changing your body, but sometimes it changes your whole life.

To every woman who has walked through the doors, trusted me, trained with me, supported me, or simply been part of this journey, thank you. You have all helped shape Empower Fitness into the community and family it is today, and I will never stop being grateful for that 💜💚💗

Family. Work. Friends. Life.

Always giving. Always needed. Always “on.”

But when she walks through our doors, something shifts.

In here, it’s not about who needs her…
it’s about what she needs.

No pressure to be perfect.
No expectation to have it all together.
Just a room full of women, all carving out a little time to put themselves first, together.

Because fitness isn’t just about reps or results.
It’s about rebuilding confidence.
Finding strength she didn’t realise she had.
Remembering that she is allowed to take up space in her own life.
