Rode Park and Lawton Cricket Club Rode Park and Lawton CC provides cricketing opportunities for young and old alike Welcome to Rode Park & Lawton Cricket Club.

The Club, located in the picturesque grounds of Rode Hall, just off Knutsford Road in Rode Heath, has the perfect setting for anyone looking to play or spectate. Whilst our picturesque setting suggests a rural location, we are within very easy reach of Alsager, Kidsgrove, Sandbach and Holmes Chapel. We currently have 8 teams, three senior and five junior. For the seniors, the 1st XI, 2nd XI (playi

ng in The North Staffs and South Cheshire League) and Sunday XI (playing in the Stone & District League). As a growing Club, we are always on the look out for new players or spectators.

Our ladies had an absolute ball at Kidsgrove CC yesterday, winning the day at their ladies softball festival 👏

Accompanied by Ian Harding and Chris Henderson, the team played 2 games and won the day!

Eagled eyed people will see our club secretary Cathryn with a medal, winning the player of the day! Cathryn started playing cricket last year after she and her family joined the club and she absolutely loves playing the game! 🤩

Our ladies are going very well this year, with two teams playing regular cricket this season in the Staffs and Cheshire leagues. Our Staffs side are back in action this Wednesday at home to Leycett, while the Cheshire team play again Monday 8th June at home to Congleton 🏏

The ladies were in fine form Tuesday night with a resounding win over Bignall End beating them by 43 runs.

Today they head over to Kidsgrove to get going in the softball bonanza where they’ll play both Kidsgrove and Bignall end once again.

With the bar open from 12 and food being served the ladies will be wanting as much support as we can give.

Here’s the lineups for this weekends action!

- The 1st xi take on Ashcombe park at home and will really want to make a mark on the game and get over the line to get the second win of the season.

- The 2nds take on Stafford and look to continue their winning ways to carry on at the top of the league.

- The 3rds take on Onneley and won’t want to back down to them. They’ll be sure to be up to the test and bring home a win.

- The Sunday 1st xi are back in action after a small hiatus but they’ll be looking to bounce straight back into their winning ways as they take on Bagnall Norton.

With the weather set to be stunning once again this weekend the bar will be open Saturday and Sunday so make sure to get down to get the last couple bits of sun before it disappears again.

Last weekends results are in!

- Friday was a hugely successful night for the club as a whole! With the local derby creating a great atmosphere for the lads to play in unfortunately they just couldn’t get in front of the local rivals.

- Once again the 1st xi just missing out on beating their opponents being potentially short on runs set for Elworth to chase down and not being able to get vital wickets throughout Elworths batting stint.

- The 2nds are continuing their fine form with yet another throughly convincing win. With four wins on the trot they’ll be looking to extend that on Saturday.

- The 3rds managed to bring back a match that looked like defeat to a nail biting tie. With the opposition requiring 5 runs from the last over. The lads and ladies kept Porthill at bay restricting them to only 4 runs resulting in a tied game.

- The Sunday Development Xi had their first run out on Sunday and showed why we should have this team. The youngsters shown through with a stellar all round performance with everyone contributing to win!!

Our Saturday and Sunday XI's have been picked and this is how our sides will look for this weekend's fixtures!

Our 1st XI go to Elworth looking to right the wrongs of last weeks rain-affected game. Beb will be looking to continue his rich vein of form as he has gone past 50 in his first three innings of the season!

The 2nd XI return home after a great start to life in Division 4 with a draw and three wins. Scott had this to say after last week: "I'm absolutely delighted with how the season has started, our bowlers are certainly doing the business at the minute!"

The 3rd XI are back at Sandbach Boys off the back of a convincing victory over Woore at the weekend. Captained by Mike in Paul's absence, he really stepped up and took 3 wickets for only 1 run! The batters then did the rest with Neil Cheadle hitting 27 before Evan and Andy wrapped it up with 19 apiece.

It's a Rode Park first for the Sunday XI, with our brand new Development XI playing their first ever game against Sandyford Devs. Led by captain Jim, he'll be looking to nurture some juniors in their first experience of senior cricket!

The weather is set to be beautiful over the bank holiday weekend, so get down and support our teams in any way you can! The bar will be open on Saturday and Sunday!

The weekend starts with our 1st XI taking on local rivals Alsager in a T20 at home with a BBQ available and two bars to choose from!

This is the one you've all been waiting for!

Our first T20 of the season is set to be an absolute cracker with local rivals Alsager coming to the Park. Beb will be leading his side out in front of what should be a packed crowd!

Information for visitors:
- The BBQ will be started up at 6pm with the bar opening from 5pm. 🍔
- We will have an outdoor bottles and cans bar and the usual indoor bar available. 🍺
- Members are reminded to use their members card inside to get discounted prices 💳
- Please park responsibly in all areas and be mindful of sight screens on the ground to avoid disruption of play

Get down and support the boys as they look to get themselves into the hat for the next round 🎩

It's a Rode Park first, with our first ever U9's girls side playing in their debut season! 🤩

Coach Andy Rayner had this to say: "A moment in club history as the girls played in Rode Park and Lawton CC's first junior girl's game. They all did the club proud especially the 3 players playing their first ever game of competitive cricket. It was brilliant to see such big improvements between innings - well done girls!"

Rode Park are proud to be supporting female cricket, both junior and senior, with new junior teams this year and a growing senior section with two teams competing in the Cheshire and Staffordshire leagues. In addition to the two ladies we have playing in our saturday teams, also representing their counties!

The future of ladies cricket is very bright at Rode!

48 hours to go!!

With the bar and BBQ fully stocked and prepped. The countdown to the local derby is well and truly on.

With the weather set to be hot all that’s left to do is to get down to the Park and enjoy a nice cold pint, burger or gin whilst watching a game with a bit of added fire to it.

Saturdays Results!

The 1st Xi fell just short in a heavily rain affected game. With Barlaston chasing down a revised target to pip the lads in the last over. From the position the top order got to the lads will be disappointed to have not capitalised and scored more. It’ll be back to the drawing board for them to push onto next weekends double header.

The 2nd Xi are in top form at the minute with different players contributing in all aspects of the game. Looking at the scorecard it looked like a convincing team win. Something that Scott will be very pleased with a look to continue on.

In similar fashion to the 2nds the 3rds are also on a lovely bit of form. Restricting the visitors to an easily achievable score. Once again Neil Cheadle led the lads and ladies off to a flyer with his quick scoring contribution setting the game up to be ticked over nice and easily.

The lads and ladies will all regroup again this week to prep for next Saturdays games.

Till then it’s all eyes on to Friday for the derby day of dreams. We will be sure to see you there!!!
