Rode Park and Lawton Cricket Club Rode Park and Lawton CC provides cricketing opportunities for young and old alike Welcome to Rode Park & Lawton Cricket Club.

The Club, located in the picturesque grounds of Rode Hall, just off Knutsford Road in Rode Heath, has the perfect setting for anyone looking to play or spectate. Whilst our picturesque setting suggests a rural location, we are within very easy reach of Alsager, Kidsgrove, Sandbach and Holmes Chapel. We currently have 8 teams, three senior and five junior. For the seniors, the 1st XI, 2nd XI (playing in The North Staffs and South Cheshire League) and Sunday XI (playing in the Stone & District League). As a growing Club, we are always on the look out for new players or spectators.

Time to dig out your dancing shoes and relive the glory days of school discos! 🕺💃

Here's how our teams shape up for our fixtures this Saturday! 🤩

Our 1st XI welcome 3rd place Elworth for what looks to be a tough fixture down at Rode! The lads will be looking to put in a strong performance against a decent side chasing promotion. Last time out against Elworth the lads fell to a 4-wicket victory with them chasing 217 with 9 balls to spare.

Our 2nd XI head to Whitmore who sit 10th in the league. In the reverse fixture it was a day for the bowlers as Whitmore were bowled out for 83 with Andrew taking 4 and Jim taking 3! It was then for Joel and Scott to steer the chase home. Here's to hoping for another performance like that from the lads!

Our 3rd XI go to Scot Hay to face Porthill Park 5th XI with our 3s unbeaten in 5 games! Last time out against Porthill, it was a tied game with 3 run-outs in 9 balls! Now-captain Mike Hulme taking 4-31 that day to bring the side from 96-2 to 136-7 before the chaos ensued!

On the 16th August our ladies are hosting teams from a number of local clubs!

Details:
⏰ 11:00 for an 11:30 start
🍔 BBQ and Den’s tuck shop will be available
🎵 our resident DJ’s will be on hand providing the tunes and vibes all day
🍻🍾 the bar will be open all day!

Will be great to see ladies cricket thriving at Rode Park as our teams continue to grow! Our two ladies sides are doing excellently in their divisions with them sitting top of the Cheshire Div 7 south and 5th in Staffs Group C!

Here's a look at our results from the weekend!

Our 1st XI went to Barlaston and put on a semi-decent total with some middle-order runs from Mark and Oli to wrestle the momentum in their favour. A strong batting innings from Barlaston took the game away in the second half with Brian Sims hitting 96* and 50 a-piece for Sharp and Seabridge.

The 2s welcomed Little Stoke to Rode looking to get back to winning ways after last week. Having won the toss, they started poorly before restricting Little Stoke to 186, Ali Currie taking a career best 6-56 in the process. The batting innings never fully got going with regular wickets stunting any progress. Evan the shining light with a patiently-made 42 before Marsh and Crumpy batted the overs to secure 11 points for the promotion chasers.

Our 3rd XI went to Woore buoyed by the confidence of drawing against promotion chasing Little Stoke last time out. Woore posted 171-4 with James Oddy the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-29 off 9 overs. The chase started excellently with Luke and Will putting an opening partnership of 96 together before falling in quick succession for 50 and 61 respectively. Will is having a great season with 42, 58 and 61 in his last 3 Saturday innings! Captain Mike said at our social evening on Saturday night that he's proud of all the team and is glad that opportunities are being given to so many new and returning cricketers!

Our Sunday 1st XI meanwhile travelled to Hanford, some with the harsh memories of Neil Crump's hot chilli sauce challenge, to face a side they dismissed for 34 on the opening day of the season. The first innings went much the same as previous with Dan taking his 3rd 5-fer in 3 games for the side! Excellent work Danielson!
Captain Jake and Oli then ushered the innings with 82* and 45 respectively. Great work from a side that only boasted 4 over 18s!

Here's how our teams are shaping up after a great weekend last time out!

Our 1st XI head to Barlaston off the back of a great victory over Stone. Buoyed by the confidence of last week, they'll be looking to capitalise on some much-needed momentum going into the business end of the season!

The 2nd XI host Little Stoke 2s with two debuts being handed to father-son duo George and Matt Mountford! Last time out at Little Stoke, it was Rode that came out on top with a 51-run victory! Go well to the Mountford's and the 2s as they hope to strengthen their grip on 2nd place in Div 4!

Our 3rd XI travel to Woore after a great win at Little Stoke last week. The side are unbeaten in 4 and are sitting 6th in Div 7. There's a return for Luke Blanchard to the club after a 10-year hiatus! Luke has scored over 2,500 runs for Rode over the years so it will be good to have him back!

Our Sunday 1st XI travel to Hanford in the Stone and District League. A decent win will see them stretch their lead at the top of the league! The side will be looking for a repeat performance of the reverse fixture where they bowled Hanford out for 35!

A quick look back at this weekend's fantastic results and a look to this weekend, where our 2nd XI host their social night! 🌶

Starting with our 1st XI, where we hosted a strong Stone side. This was shown by opener Will Farrow hitting 121 and Reuben Hall 52, setting 283 off 55 overs. The chase started poorly, with the loss of both openers early, and Oli Gallimore soon after, leaving the lads 48-3. Captain Lewis met Lee Evans at the crease, and they put on a great 4th-wicket partnership of 131. This was backed up by Joel, who played a great hand with some clean hitting to make 46. It was then down to Lee and Joff to finish the innings, with Joff hitting 25 off 20!

Over to our 2nd XI where they travelled to Woore knowing a win would put a gap between them and Silverdale in 3rd. Unfotunately the side fell short of the win with a faltering batting innings after a strong start from Oli Leese and captain Scott Cheadle. The side went from 67-0 to 142 all out on what looked to be a pitch offering some assistance to the bowlers. This was shown as Woore were reduced to 84-6 before a couple of partnerships sealed the win for the home side.

Our 3rd XI continued to perform in Division 7 as they welcomed local side Sandbach to The Link. The side fielded first and took their opportunities to keep the score to 171-6 off the 40. Phil Cheadle and Mike Hulme both picking up a couple of wickets, backed by George Mountford and Dan O'Gorman taking 1 apiece. The batting was the highlight of the day with Will Raftery hitting a high score of 58 up top before George topped his day off with 33*.

This weekends fixtures:
1st XI travel to Barlaston - midday start
2nd XI host Little Stoke - 1pm start
3rd travel to Woore - 1pm start
Sunday 1st XI travel to Hanford - 1:30pm start

Let's have a look at our results from the weekend!

Our 1st XI went to Wood Lane hoping to turn some poor results around after finding life in Prem B tough! Another game has unfortunately not gone the lads' way with Jamie Heath taking 4-52 as our only stand out positive from the game. Hats off to Zaighum Abbas for Wood Lane who hit 59 (29) and took 8-30 🤯The 1st XI will be looking for some more performances like Jamie's as they see Stone SP come to Rode for more red ball action.

Onto the 2nd XI, where they were looking to turn some poor form around themselves having not won in 5 games coming into the fixture with Bignall End! Batting first, the lads made an auspicious start, seeing off the opening 4 overs before Sam Marshall took the momentum to hit a quick-fire 34. James Macgillivray and Alistair Currie then played a hand in setting an excellent total with hitting 70 and 50* respectively. The bowling innings then started with some wonderful new ball bowling with Jim and Ollie, taking 7 wickets between them in the first 17 overs!

Our 3rd XI bowled first with our very own Staffs O-60s pro Phil Cheadle taking 3-29 in a middle-overs spell. Having been set 205 to win with Little Stoke declaring after 37 overs, they begun the chase with Will Raftery hitting a personal high score of 42 at the top. A quick middle order collapse saw Harry Price and Joab Dickenson come together and put 75 on for the 7th wicket. The innings was held together with two seniors in Chris Coates and Mike Hulme seeing out the overs to hold on for a well-earnt draw.

Onto Sunday, where both our 1st and Development XI's were in action.
The 1st XI continue to perform strongly in Division 2 with a wonderful bowling performance from Dan Forster taking 5-16. Scott and Joe seeing off the total without too much trouble.
The Development XI suffered a defeat by Wood Lane with some great opportunities given and a senior debut given to Olivia Hulme! Outside of Chris Coates, everyone got a bowl and it's great to see so many introductions to senior cricket for Rode!

Here's our teams for this busy weekend of fixtures!

Big changes made to all sides with a large number of players missing this weekend sees Dan Forster promoted to the 1st XI off the back of a good innings in the cup against Prem A side Longton. They go to Wood Lane looking to recreate their early season exploits where they completed a 7-wicket win. Lee Evans that day scoring an excellent 107 and Oli Gallimore 49* to chase down 236.

Chris Henderson returns for the 2nd XI in his annual testimonial game, topping up the average age of the 2nd XI. They welcome Bignall End 2s to Rode, off the back of a strong performance against league-leaders Kidsgrove last time out. Captain Scott led the side with a well-made 83 and was supported by some great runs from Jake with 35 and Rhys with 40. The side just couldn't take the final wickets for victory in the heat. Rhys and Crumpy did the work for the side bowling 9 overs each, Rhys claiming 3-35 and Crumpy 2-19 in a very Crumpy-esque tight spell.

Our 3rd XI sees a debut being handed to ever-present spectator and club supporter, Mike Chambers. We're sure he'll be ably supported by veterans of the game, Phil Cheadle and captain Mike Hulme. The 3rd XI go to 3rd in the league Little Stoke, where they'll be looking to continue their work in Division 7. They come off the back of an off-week as Hanford conceded.

On Sunday, our 1st and Dev XI's both play in the SDCL. Our Sunday 1st XI head to Burslem for a 1:30pm start. They are looking to maintain their great record in the league with 4 wins and 1 loss so far in the 2026 season. A couple of veterans are making an appearance on Sunday with Andy Marshall and Jonathan Gallimore having a go.

The Dev XI is continuing its journey in their new division, welcoming Wood Lane to Rode for a 1:30pm start. Everyone at Rode is proud to see the opportunities given to the players who are making their senior debuts this season. Keep up the great work!

You think it's HOT now wait until August the 1st when our social night is the CHILLI CON CARNAGE EVENING at the club.
Everybody welcome to come down and support the club, food will be available, bar will definitely be open and a few games will be underway before the BIG showdown of the CHILLI CHALLENGE!
5 Red HOT teams are preparing already for the title, more details very soon!
FANCY DRESS is hopefully the way we attend the evening, anything that you think is appropriate for a Hot Mexicanish evening at RPLCC.

Hats off to two of our teams at Rode!

Firstly, our Ladies team got to the final the Wistaston Ladies festival last weekend, losing narrowly to Crewe in the final by 7 runs. Excellent work from our thriving ladies, who are playing a serious amount of games this summer!

The weekend before, our Sunday 1st XI took on Eccleshall in the Wildblood Cup final. Prior to the fixture they'd gone unbeaten in the league and the cup!
Bowling first, Eccleshall set the side 172 to win with Captain Jake taking 2-24, Aiden 1-33 and Rhys 1-44 in tough bowling conditions. Missing out on a wicket but bowling an incredibly economical spell to keep the total down was Mike with 0-17 off 7 overs.

Starting the chase, the lads fell to 1-3 seeing their two openers and their captain fall in the first two overs. The Gallimore brothers steadied the ship somewhat before Ol fell for 15. Rhys and Fin added quick runs with 28 and 17 respectively to wrestle control back. A great partnership from two home-grown lads Aiden and Joel, put 50 on to bring Rode close to victory when Joel fell for a well-made 53. Aiden and Jack Chadwick then saw the innings home to win the cup by 7 wickets!

Congratulations to both teams for their exploits, here's to more success at Rode this season and beyond!
