Well what can we say about yesterday!
Yesterday was one of those days we won’t forget for a long time! The Rochford boys needed a win to give them a chance at securing promotion however, they would also need Saffron Walden to do them a favour in beating Crostyx!
Rochford (away to Tower Hamlets) had a VERY tense first half fight, but with some great saves from keeper Tony Revel, they went into half time 0-0! The boys in blue applied all the pressure at the start of the second half, back playing the style of hockey they love to play. It paid off massively, getting the opening goal within a few minutes of the start of the half. They applied even more pressure on the home team to go on and score a further 2 goals! Full time whistle went and Rochford had done their part perfectly with a 1-3 win away on the last game!
Now it was just about seeing if any of the days results had been posted … during the huddle at the end of the game captain Matt Smith during his final post game chat before stepping down as captain, checked his phone to see the scores … a couple of moment later and the cheer from the Rochford boys echoed around the Wapping pitch!
PROMOTION SECURED!! Division 3 here we come!
