π National Village Cup β Regional Final
High Halstow CC 148 all out
Chestfield CC 149-4
Chestfield won by 6 wickets
A hugely disappointing end to our National Village Cup journey as we fell one game short of progressing further in the competition.
After being asked to bat first, Rhys Fowler fought hard for his 58, with Archie Lally contributing 25, but regular wickets prevented us from building the innings we needed and we were eventually bowled out for 148.
What followed was a tremendous effort with the ball. Clark Dockwray (2-18) and Rob Fowler (1-16) helped reduce Chestfield to 109-4 and for a while it looked like we might pull off something special. Unfortunately, Chestfield held their nerve and an unbeaten 64 from Sam Camp saw them over the line.
Shoutout to Louis Waite, the 12th man, who had to come on for an injured Ciaran Fredericks. A massive shift to help the lads out!
Itβs a tough one to take. To come this far and fall at the Regional Final stage hurts, especially after giving ourselves a chance in the second innings. But every player should be proud of the way theyβve represented High Halstow throughout this yearβs Village Cup run.
Special mention must go to skipper Clark Dockwray, who not only led from the front with the ball but was instrumental in organising our entry and campaign in this yearβs competition. The countless hours of work behind the scenes often go unnoticed, and while this result will sting, the club owes a great deal to his efforts in helping make this memorable cup run possible.
Thank you to EVERYONE who supported us along the way, both home and away. Weβll regroup, learn from it, and go again. πͺππ
