Gents, summer is months away, use this as your reminder to start training legs ☀️🦵🏽
You don’t want to be having to wear joggers in 20° heat because your insecure about the size of your legs or you’re heavily upper dominant ‼️
We’ve all been guilty about skipping legs, me included, which I regret everyday, there’s still a lot of catching up to do 🥲
There’s so many benefits from training them which you are missing out on if you choose to neglect them. 👏🏽
Training your legs is crucial for overall strength, athletic performance, and long-term health. Here’s a scientific breakdown of the benefits:
Hormonal Benefits – Compound leg exercises trigger the release of key anabolic hormones like testosterone and growth hormone, which promote muscle growth and fat loss throughout the body.
Increased Caloric Burn – Since leg exercises work large muscle groups, they require high energy expenditure, boosting metabolism and post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), leading to greater fat loss.
Improved Blood Circulation – Lower body workouts enhance venous return, reducing the risk of varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). They also contribute to better cardiovascular health.
Better Joint & Bone Health – Weight-bearing leg exercises improve bone mineral density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. They also strengthen connective tissues (tendons and ligaments), lowering injury risk.
Functional Strength & Longevity – Leg training enhances balance, stability, and coordination, making everyday movements like walking, climbing stairs, and lifting objects easier. This is crucial for injury prevention and maintaining mobility as you age.
Then the obvious one…
Muscle Growth & Strength – Leg workouts, such as squats and deadlifts, activate large muscle groups (quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes), leading to increased muscle hypertrophy and overall strength. This occurs due to mechanical tension, muscle damage, and metabolic stress, which stimulate muscle protein synthesis.
Skipping leg day can lead to muscular imbalances, weaker performance, and reduced functional strength, so prioritizing leg training is essential for a well-rounded fitness routine ✔️
