LAL Cup Semi-Final (Premier Division)

DARWEN 2-6 ROCHDALE SAINT CLEMENTS

Saints reached a first cup final in over five years on Saturday with a decisive win over a very strong Darwen side. Goals from Dylan Edwards, James Rothwell, Nelito Martins and a hat-trick from Lew Byrne secured the victory.
By far Saints’ best performance of the season every single player did the club proud 🤍🖤

Chaddertonians 5-6 ROCHDALE ST CLEMENTS

Saturday was a massive test for the Saints against a previously unbeaten Chadds side. Saints started well with early goals from Lewis Byrne and James Rothwell. Chaddertonians hit back with a goal against the run of play before Saints scored another 2 before half time. (4-1). Just before half time an injury to captain Tom Beal meant that the team had to be shuffled around at half time.

Chadds hit back immediately after half time with two quick goals pe***ng the score back to 4-3. Saints got back on top with a fantastic headed goal by James Rothwell to complete his hat trick. Once again poor defending led to another goal for Chadds making the score 5-4. Saints keeper Joe Wilson then made a terrific save to keep Saints in the lead. The game became end-to-end and Saints got a sixth goal from a fantastic finish from
Dylan Edwards before Chadds got one more consolation goal a minute before the end to set up a nervy ending.

MOM was James Rothwell for his tireless performance and hat trick from midfield.

Saints now have a playoff game (TBA) next week to decide whether we qualify for the semi final.

A good result and a great performance for Saints first team on Saturday as we cruised to a 5-1 victory over Tottington United at home. Goals from Morgan Lang, Si Hobson, Nelito Martins, Tom Wilson and a debut goal for Criss Kaengele wrapped up the points.

MOM was Kab Katembe with an excellent debut at left back

A 3-1 away defeat against Old Mancunians means qualifying for the semi finals of this competition is now out of our hands. The scoreline didn’t reflect the balance of play but unfortunately this is how football goes sometimes. Home next week to Tottington get down to support the lads in this MUST win game

Not a good day at the office for Saints today. Poor team performance and only managed to scrape a draw at home to Mostonians courtesy of a last minute penalty. Extending the unbeaten run to 8, and the players having the belief in themselves to get back in the game are the only positives to take.
