A small snippet from a recent lesson, helping a student create a clearer picture of both the putt and its geometry.

One of the most common areas of confusion I see is the difference between the ball’s journey (ball trajectory) and the aim line (laser line) needed to create that curve.

In this video, I use the training aid to give the student a much clearer visual understanding of how these two concepts work together. Sometimes, a simple visual is all it takes to transform understanding.

There’s been a lot of chat about torque recently, but what actually determines the torque profile of a putter? 🤔

In this video, we break down three different torque profiles and, in particular, show how the position of the shaft relative to the putter’s centre of gravity (CG) shapes that profile.

⚙️ Different torque profiles can interact with your stroke in very different ways, which is why there isn’t one putter that’s “best” for everyone.

A putter that performs brilliantly for one golfer may be completely wrong for another.

That’s where a putter fitting makes all the difference. By testing different torque profiles, we can identify which design works most efficiently with your stroke, helping you achieve more consistent face delivery and improved distance control.

The visuals in this video help bring these concepts to life, so before you buy your next putter straight off the shelf, it’s worth understanding how different designs may influence your stroke.

Knowledge first. Equipment second.

Most golfers think putts only break because of the slope… but the angle you approach the hole from changes everything. 🎯

In this lesson recap, I use a simple clock-face analogy to explain why putts break differently depending on your angle to the slope

🕕 6 o’clock = straight uphill
🕛 12 o’clock = straight downhill

As you move around the clock, the amount and direction of break changes because your relationship to the slope changes/ your angle to the slope changes. Understanding this concept is one of the easiest ways to improve your green reading and hole more putts. You’ll start to notice where the real severe breaking putts are.

This is a simplistic model and it assumes a uniform constant slope (planar slope) that is going through the middle of the hole. But understanding the theory can in many cases help you make a better decision when out on the greens.

If you’ve ever wondered why two putts from the same distance can break completely differently, this is the reason.

Save this reel for your next practice session and let me know in the comments if the clock analogy helps you see the green differently. ⛳️ try this drill as a 4ft or 5ft circle around the hole.

We use technology during our putting lessons at to help golfers develop a clear and consistent targeting strategy.

PuttView allows us to teach green reading and visualise different aiming options in a highly engaging and effective way, giving players greater confidence in their decision-making on the greens.

If you’d like to experience PuttView projection or PuttView x goggles as part of a lesson, or would like more information about our coaching programmes at Brocket Hall, please email [email protected].

Great session with David this week working on a tendency to pull putts.

The miss pattern was consistent:
⬇️ Right-to-left putts missed low
⬅️ Straight putts missed left
⬆️ Left-to-right putts missed high

We identified strong right-eye dominance influencing his setup. His eyeline was tilted left, encouraging an out-to-in stroke path and causing a pull.

A few simple changes made a big difference:
âś… Adjusted pre-shot routine
âś… Added a line on the ball to help him set eyeline
âś… Feedback training with the Visio 2-piece mirror

No major swing thoughts, just better setup and better feedback during practice with the mirror.

Visio putting mirrors just got a whole lot smarter!

Loving the new ease of use on the new personalised mirrors which are custom fit specifically for my stroke. Really cool way to make sure we’re creating world class habits around setup and addressing the ball the same way every time.

We will be doing custom fits here for students at brocket hall, just let me know if you’re interested in taking your practice up a notch.
