Find out more at: robertsbridge.play-cricket.com At Robertsbridge Cricket Club, we go way back. 1887 to be exact. The reason why we’ve been going so long is because we’ve always played with the same unwavering focus on cricket in the community. Throughout the year, we compete in regional league and cup competitions - both indoors and outdoors. During the summer months, the Clappers (our home grou

nd) is a hive of activity - with three league teams, countless social and development matches and regular cup fixtures, there’s rarely a quiet evening down at the ground. We have a thriving junior section, with competitive matches and weekly youth sessions - delivered by qualified ECB coaches. We also host a number of community events at the ground, including the infamous Cooper Cup - involving local businesses and community groups - which grows in popularity year on year. If you share our passion for building community and want to be involved in what we do, we’d love to hear from you.

✅ Renegades win.

We are 4 out of 4 in the .

Early wickets for Jacob Pexton (1-30) and David Williams (1-21) kept the scoring under control. Skipper (1-10) also chipped in. But the damage was done by Robert Geaney - spinning his web for 5-13, including a hat-trick.

An odd chase, the top order relaxed with the low total to chase. Dan Thomas (19) got though the early overs. Despite the fact that he was out-run by his dad, samwilkinson01 (17) also made a contribution. Just when the game seemed in the balance Josh Goodsell (28) and Liam Maclean (28*) came together and cruised to the target.

4th XI match report from skipper Chris Sharp

Despite a resounding defeat against a very strong Sidley side pushing for promotion, there were plenty of positives to take from the day.

We worked hard in the field to restrict Sidley to 230 with Theo and Ed the pick of the bowlers. Josh Roper made his debut and was brilliant in the field, bringing lots of energy and taking some great catches. Josh Tidmarsh was equally brilliant in the outfield and got a wicket with a direct hit, earning both players POTM. Well done Joshs.

Set a big total on a huge outfield, the chase was always going to be tough, but we stuck at it and navigated 39.3 overs before eventually being bowled out. Some good time in the middle for everyone and looking forward to next weeks match against Little commom.

3rd XI report, written by skipper Dan Thomas

Close game against Borderers.

Inserted on a slightly damp pitch, openers Simmo & Dan Towse got off to a flyer, 50/0 after 8. Both fell quickly & we stuttered to 70-4 at drinks.

A 60 partnership between George & Will held the innings together, but we finished on 165, probably 30 below par.

In the field, George bowled a tight opening spell without luck. Noah bowled a good spell, picking up 2. Nice spell by Sam, getting some turn & picking up 2 wickets. Some good catches from Simmo (2) Dan & Al.
9 overs from Jimmy c - tight & 3 wickets kept us in the game right to the death, earning him POTM

Sadly a few expensive overs & a coupe of drops allowed borderers to edge a tight game

Saturday Summary: ❌❌❌❌

Only the shirts were meant to be sh*te, not the performances.

The 1sts chased some leather around the clappers. The seamers gave some control through Lewis Chapman (2-40), Will Stovell (2-50) and a return to form for Luke Flint (2-55), but we conceded a big total. 29-4 was not an ideal start to the chase, but Dave Neil (30) steadied the ship. It was then the one man bomb squad, Chapman who hit 7 6’a in his innings of 66 which at least reeled in the batting points.

The second’s were in control for large parts of their bowling display, an early wicket for Jacob Pexton was followed by a spell of brilliant control for Callum Nice - who conceded 7 runs in his 9 overs. A shaky end to the innings meant an imposing chase of 199. For a while that seemed doable - with James Brightman (43) smashing his merry way and Seb Stovell (43) playing a ‘proper’ innings. But there was no support - the next highest score was 7.

3rds and 4ths report to follow.

Some truly disgusting scenes at the Clappers last night, but for once it wasn’t Ben Collins’s on field behaviour, the gents toilet or Josh Goodsell’s meat lunch.

Bad shirt night produced some howlers. It also produced a great social and did what it needed to do for bar takings.

Thanks to and Liam Maclean for organising. Looking forward to finding out what you have planned for next month’s social.

Images from our Sunday friendly against Hurst Green. A great game of cricket with some notable performances on both teams.

For the ‘bridge James Crofton (4-24) was the pick of the ten bowlers used. But perhaps the real shock was a Martin Sims wicket - his first in 4 years. Sims then slapped a quick 44 before Chris Sharp (55) and skipper James Stewart (34) - but we fell slightly short.

Looking forward to the reverse fixture in a couple of weeks.
