Roade Fat Boyz Keep Fit Club In good health for over 40 years
The origins of the original “Men’s keep fit” class are shrouded in mystery. It is thought that the first year that the group graced the Lobb gymnasium was 1976. Ian Henderson, the then school PE teacher, ran it initially as an “Adult Education” class. The following year Richard Lobb took over and ran it for several years along with man
y village regulars. Numerous founding members continued to attend and many new faces joined along the way, ages 18 to 80 have attended over the years including Fathers, Sons and Grandsons. After several changes in personnel by mid 2007 numbers were at an all time low and the club looked in perilous danger of closing. A new committee took over the helm and now operating on a non profit making basis, we have welcomed many new recruits and we are now looking to continue for many years to come. From Basketball, 5-a-sde football, circuit training, running and indoor cricket, every Thursday 7-9pm, 2 hours of non stop exercise to cater for all abilities and ages, especially those who think they may have passed their peak. The class has relocated to the bigger Redmond Hall in the Willison Centre, invested in new sports equipment and are organising several sport related social events. So it has never been a better time to join, just turn up with your kit, 1st taster session is free so what have you got to lose? Thursdays 7-9pm.
