I've always competed at every level from white to black.
-
Competition highlights what works under pressure or what you need to improve on.
-
For this match I felt good, trained hard, did all the extra cardio, I felt confident and still got caught but that's just part of the game πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ.
-
It's easy to get to a certain level and decide you've done enough and don't want to risk getting submitted as a blackbelt but as long as I'm injury free and young enough I'll keep competing to test myself.

Three none fitness related reasons why you feel like your cardio isn't good.
-
Having strength and endurance and a good cardio base is obviously really important but it might not be the reason you feel tired in training or competition.
-
If you feel good in training and bad in competition it could be one or all three of the reasons I've posted that's why competition is good to highlight flaws.
-
A competition people often don't warm up right.. squeeze more because of the extra tension and adrenaline.. and try to rush things so they are therefore less efficient.
-
The same applies to MMA, Boxing or any combat sports, learning to control comp day nerves is a big thing.

What would your life look like if you made a plan and stuck to it for the next year or next 5 years..
-
You can become good or experienced in pretty much anything in 5 years.
-
Before I did martial arts or went to the gym I never really stuck to anything I told myself I'd do..
-
I got up late, would start new hobbies and quit and struggled with confidence because of that.
-
After 10 years training MMA and almost 15 in the gym the biggest lesson I learned is: Getting good is just time.. Put in consistent work into anything and you'll get better at it.
-
Create a realistic plan and stick to it.
-
Quote by Alex Hermozi β€œYou don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are. Outwork your self-doubt.”

Covering most of the bases for performance..
-
The post is about training outside of skills work. Skills and technique take priority over everything, if you're moving inefficiently or doing stuff wrong you'll quickly become tired.
-
Inefficiency explains why someone who runs marathons would quickly gas out as a beginner in wrestling or Jiu-jitsu. Their base level fitness is probably high but their inefficiency will have them at an elevated heart rate for longer than they are used to and can recover from.

I'm not aiming to be a body transformation coach and didn't give any fat loss goals.
-
The main goal was to increase performance for getting into martial arts and this is what I did..
-
- Set a performance plan with strength and fitness goals.
- Gave daily protein, sleep and creatine targets
- Daily check ins and weekly reviews for accountability
-
Matt wasn't a beginner lifter either he just needed some guidance and accountability like most people!
-
Train and eat for performance/ health and the body composition goals will be a nice bonus πŸ’ͺ🏻

10 years ago.. Hybrid before hybrid was called hybrid it was just called being strong and fit 🀣
-
If you've been around martial arts hybrid is just strength and conditioning.. preparing your body for the demands of the sport except with hybrid there's an event not a sport to prepare for.
-
I think the new hype of "hybrid"/hyrox is good though.. If you want to feel and perform at your best you need to be doing a mixture of strength training and cardio.
