Spring has been kind to us, with some excellent fishing and memorable days on the river, and we’re now looking forward to a fantastic summer trout season. We’re also excited for the grayling season to reopen on 16th June, bringing even more opportunities to enjoy these beautiful rivers.

This beautiful trout was caught on one of the River Ure beats on the Swinton Estate - a perfect example of the quality fishing available throughout the season.

Gary enjoyed a fantastic two day stillwater and river fishing course with us, learning the fundamentals of both disciplines and gaining confidence in a range of techniques. His efforts were rewarded with fish on both days, culminating in the capture of this stunning River Ure brown trout to round off the trip.

Needless to say, Gary was absolutely delighted with his catch. The trout was taken on an upstream duo rig, with the fish falling to a small midge nymph on our private River Ure beat. A memorable fish and a much deserved reward for all his hard work over the two days.

As high summer approaches, monitoring water temperature becomes increasingly important. It not only helps you fine tune your tactics and approach, but also lets you know when conditions may be too warm to fish responsibly, keeping fish welfare at the forefront of every session.

A fantastic day on the water with Ryan last Wednesday. We began by introducing a few casting techniques on the grass before quickly heading to the lake. With trout rising regularly and plenty of opportunities presenting themselves, Ryan soon landed his first fish on the fly.

In the afternoon, we moved on to the River Burn. On arrival, the river was alive with insect activity, with large hatches evident throughout. Thanks to some accurate casting and quick reactions, it wasn’t long before we had more than half a dozen wild brown trout in the net. The action continued throughout the afternoon, with several more fish landed, rounding off a highly successful day.

A farewell few hours on the River Ure with Dani.

Over the past two years, many of you will have met Dani while assisting at our events, instructing, and guiding fishing days as she gained valuable experience within the fly fishing industry.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Dani for all her hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication during her time with us. We wish her every success and safe travels as she embarks on her next adventure.

You'll have one final opportunity to see Dani with us at the Northern Country Sports Show in Harrogate on 6th–7th June, where we're looking forward to an amazing weekend. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
