Another Moonglu Wheelworks special order.

They say 26” is dead. Whilst this is mostly true it does survive and in the case of this wheelset it thrives. One of DT’s last surviving 26” rims, the FR560 was perfect for this bike park and dirt jump wheelset. Eyeletted and super tough, we paired them with DT’s little known 370 series hubs. Single speed 6 bolt and bolt in at the back and disc tab free 20mm or 15mm at the front, these are perfect for DJ bikes.

Finished with custom cut and threaded Sapim Race spokes and double square brass ni***es.

A recent Moonglu Wheelworks special project for a budding downhill racer. Initially there were discussions about a carbon downhill wheelset but due to the lack of availability of the right rim we settled on the industry leading DT Swiss FR541 in a mullet setup. This wheelset has to be robust and serviceable through all seasons and conditions and there's only one place to go for the hubs, Hope Technology's Pro 5. Their 157x12mm DH hub for close ratio downhill cassettes was perfect for the frame.

A final twist came in the lacing and theme. To seal the deal, I agreed to lacing in silver and black paired spokes. As we stock both silver and black Sapim Race uncut spokes, we custom cut them and laced the leading spokes in black with black brass ni***es and the trailing spokes silver with silver brass ni***es. I've tried to emphasise this in the main image with limited success.

Customer Notice

Moonglu will be closed on Thursday 9th July as we attend the funeral of Rob Wilkins. Friend, friend of the shop, Moonglu CC founding member and all round good guy who sadly passed away recently while riding his bike.

Our thoughts continue to be with his family at this difficult time.

We will re-open as normal at 9am on Friday.

Handbuilt mountain bike wheels ready for dispatch. DT Swiss 350 Boost hubs built into DT Swiss EX511 29er rims. Finished with custom cut and threaded Sapim Race spokes and double square brass ni***es. Customer specified DEG Microspline freehub.

Handbuilt mountain bike wheels ready for dispatch. Hope Pro 5 hubs built into DT Swiss FR541 rims. Mullet set up, 29” front, 27.5” rear. Customer specified Super Boost 157x12mm rear hub with special order steel XD freehub (big thanks to Hope for sorting that out). Custom lacing with silver double butted spokes with on the drive side and black on the non drive.
