Big thanks to our friends at Coffee at Number 10 Ripon for supporting the inaugural Moonglu CC Aldax event. The caffeine hit and danish whirl certainly helped with the 100 miles and 9000ft climbing on some of the toughest roads in the Dales.

Handbuilt mountain bike wheels recently dispatched. Hope Pro 5 hubs built into DT Swiss EX511 27.5” rims. Finished with custom cut and threaded Sapim Race spokes and double square brass ni***es. Customer specified non Boost 15mm front hub and 148x12mm rear hub with steel HG freehub.

As most of my friends know, I'd much rather get on with work than constantly spraff online but I'll make an exception with these wheels.

Carbon spokes are the now, most of the major players in the wheel market are building their high end wheels with carbon spokes. I have repaired multiple Cadex and Hunt wheels with this set up and build my own wheels from a build kit provided by Wheel-Parts in Holland. The kits are 45mm profile rims but there was demand from within for a deeper profile aero rim. With no kits available in this specification I had to go out and source the right rims and burn some grey matter to do the spoke calculations.

Fast forward to Friday, the parts were finally assembled and no sooner had I finished the build were they on Ben's race bike ready for Lincoln GP on Sunday. In amonst it all we did manage to weigh them and the numbers do stack up, 60mm deep rim, 33mm wide and 1320g. For comparison, that makes them 150g lighter than Reserve's new Turbulent Aero wheels for similar rim profiles and at £1500, half the price. I'm also pleased to report they escaped Lincoln GP unscathed.

First time hands on with the silver edition DT Swiss FR541 rims. It’s fair to say stock has been limited since launch but we finally got our hands on a pair for a returning customer. These are matt silver anodized and the finish looks fantastic. Graphics, lettering and warning are black giving a good contrast and they’re not adhesive stickers so will stay in place long term.

We’ve built these mullet rims onto Hope Pro 5 hubs with silver custom cut Sapim Race spokes and double square brass ni***es. Customer specified 54 PoE XD steel freehub.
