Ripon Croquet Club hosted the First Cross Pennine Competition on Sunday August the 23rd.
The weather was absolutely wonderful and the 17 competitors certainly had near perfect playing conditions.
This was a doubles tournament with each team fielding 2 pairs.
Going into the last round things were neck and neck between Pendle and Ben Rhydding however in the final round Pendle played some of their best croquet of the tournament and came out worthy winners, with Ben Rhydding having to accept the runner up slot. Bishop Monkton and Ripon Spa Croquet Club shared third place.
It was lovely that Roger was able to be part of our team after quite a long time away from the game. Other team members were Sue, Marcia, Robert and Katie.
Andrea Widdison managed the event and Sue provided some excellent afternoon tea for everyone.
This year’s winners Pendle will host the competition next year.

On 23 July Sue and Robert played in the Crake Valley B Level. The Crake lawns were the greenest I have ever seen in quite some time. Green lawns in a lovely setting, and the splendid hospitality of the club all combined to make this a very pleasant day's croquet. Both of our members played well against some stiff opposition. Sue came 4th and Robert 6th. Welldone both!!

RSCC Progressive Doubles on 11th August. Twelve of us competed in this annual competition. The day, rather a hot one went smoothly, ably managed by Sue. After seven rounds of 30 minute games: Sue and Viv played against Robert and Alex in the final.
Sue and Viv came out the winners, much to Viv's delight, the first competition she had ever won. All in all a splendid fun days croquet. Thankyou Sue for all your hard work managing it.

Robert and Katy and Liz and Michael and Andrea and Marcia were three pairs from from RSCC and Sue who played with Lesley from Bishop Monkton in the Restricted Doubles at BM on 22nd July. Sue and Lesley won this event for the third time, and Liz and Michael came second
