Ripon Ladies Stay Unbeaten with Another Brilliant Sunday

Ripon Ladies made it another unbeaten Sunday with some fantastic cricket, and it's safe to say we've really found our groove. Confidence is high, and it's showing in every game.

Our bowling was more accurate keeping the wides down and regular wickets putting the pressure on the opposition. Shout out to Liv who produced some of the best bowling all season. With the bat, everyone played positively, striking the ball brilliantly and helping us put some excellent scores on the board.

The best part is that everyone is contributing, whether it's with bat, ball or in the field, and the team spirit is better than ever. We're loving our cricket at the moment, and we can't wait to do it all again next week!

Seven Wins from Seven as Ripon's Women & Girls Enjoy a Perfect Sunday!

It was a memorable day for the women and girls of Ripon Cricket Club, with every team in action returning home unbeaten in a remarkable clean sweep of seven victories from seven matches.

The day began at Beckwithshaw, where our youngest Rebels took part in their second Roses Festival. The progress this group has made was clear for all to see as they produced three outstanding performances to secure victory in all three of their matches.

Confident batting, well-timed shots and excellent communication between the wickets kept the scoreboard moving throughout the morning, and in a fantastic achievement the team completed the festival without losing a single wicket. Their bowling and fielding were equally impressive, with every player demonstrating the hard work they have put in during training. Wickets came in a variety of ways, including some excellent bowling, sharp catches and alert run outs, making it a wonderful display from the youngest Rebels.

Meanwhile, at Ouseburn, the U13 Rebels were playing their final league fixtures of the season and were determined to continue the winning momentum. They did exactly that, recording two victories from two games with another outstanding team performance.

With several younger players stepping up to U13 cricket, there was every reason to expect a challenge, but you would never have known it from the confidence and maturity they showed. Strong individual batting performances were backed up by a disciplined and cohesive bowling attack, ensuring a thoroughly deserved pair of victories to round off an excellent league campaign.

The perfect day was completed in the afternoon as the Ripon Ladies took to the field. Inspired by the success of the younger Rebels, they were determined to finish the weekend in style and did just that with two impressive wins from two matches.

It was another complete team performance, featuring powerful batting throughout the order, accurate and economical bowling, athletic fielding and some outstanding catches. Every player contributed as the Ladies capped off a special Sunday for women and girls' cricket at Ripon Cricket Club.

We certainly did turn Yorkshire yellow at Ripon Cricket Club at Friday junior training. This evening was in support of raising funds and awareness of the incredible work Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The coaches and junior players were adorned in yellow and many donations of fabulous yellow themed cakes were sold in support of the charity. Thanks to the Mayor and Mayoress Ripon City Council for supporting the event and drawing the raffle to win the big yellow hamper. Ripon has such a wonderful community, thanks to all the parents and cricket family for their support 💛💛🏏

What an amazing day of Women and Girls cricket we had at Ripon both this morning and this afternoon.
We had the U13 softball league games and the Roses festival games this morning followed by the Women's softball league games, including a Ripon interclub Youth versus Experience game, where we got to show off our brand new kit thanks to . We love it!

So much fun and cricket, thank you to all the teams that attended and players and a huge thanks to all that support the games by umpiring and scoring.

Ladies Softball Team Enjoy Friendly Visit to Bolton Percy

The Ripon Ladies Softball team were delighted to be invited to Bolton Percy for a friendly fixture this weekend.

With a squad made up of experienced players, newcomers and youth players, Ripon batted first and put together an impressive team performance to post a solid total of 280.

Despite being without two of our regular bowlers, the team demonstrated just how much progress has been made this season. The bowlers rose to the challenge brilliantly, taking several wickets and keeping the pressure on throughout the innings. Backed up by some excellent fielding, Ripon pushed the game right to the very end.

In a closely contested match, Bolton Percy edged the victory by just three runs, but the result did little to dampen the spirits of the Ripon side. The game was played in a fantastic atmosphere, with plenty of encouragement, laughter and great cricket on display from both teams.

A special mention must also go to the delicious mini scones that awaited us after the match, which were every bit as impressive as the cricket!

A huge thank you to Bolton Percy for their warm hospitality and invitation. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and look forward to welcoming you to Ripon for the return fixture soon.

Ripon Ladies kicked off their softball season in brilliant spirit this weekend, with both teams showing fantastic determination, teamwork and energy across two venues. ☀️🏏

Ripon 1 enjoyed a thrilling one run victory over Ouseburn in a nail-biting finish that had everyone on edge until the final ball. They then faced a strong Bilton side, narrowly falling short by 18 runs after another competitive performance.

Meanwhile, Ripon 2 battled hard against Studley before bouncing back superbly to claim a well-earned win against Beckwithshaw, rounding off a successful opening festival for the squad.

There were standout moments everywhere you looked. Over at Studley, Emma and Becky S produced superb catches in the field, while Helen threw herself around with a what was described to me as a fearless diving stop that summed up the team spirit perfectly. Behind the stumps, Jenny B took two excellent caught behinds to showcase her skills.

At Knaresborough, Ellie C and Ava showed incredible dedication by sprinting straight from their U13 game to open the bowling for the ladies team. Their efforts helped set the tone for a superb all-round team display which secured a very tight victory, while Cath impressed so much with the gloves that she may just have discovered her new favourite cricketing role.

Huge credit also goes to Cath, Robyn and Bex, who somehow managed to play, umpire and score at the same time. A true cricketing triple-threat performance worthy of several extra cups of tea and at least one emergency flapjack.

Special mentions go to Ripon’s debutants Hayley, Kerry, Ellie B, Phoenix and Becky S, all of whom made fantastic starts in Ripon colours.

A brilliant opening festival all round, full of encouragement, laughter, teamwork and competitive cricket. Onto the next festival in a few weeks’ time! 🏏💜
