Yesterday Ilkeston 1s played Woodlands away.
Woodlands took an early lead, but good work from JV and right time right place Purps popped up and equalised. Good work on the right helped Susie score to make it 2.1 💪🏻 Then our Purps made it 3.1 to Ilkeston after good work from Nay and Susie.
Woodlands came back strong and it was soon 3.3! But more good positive play from Ilkeston resulting in BB hitting the backboard. Final score 4.3 Ilkeston.
Well played all in a competitive game. MOM goes to Joey with fab saves!

Ilkeston 2s played a very young Notts Players 2s after lunch. Players took an early lead and Ilkeston tried hard to score, but even with all the play, they couldn’t make it happen. Lovely enjoyable game and all had smiles after the game! MOM goes to the famous ‘Chase loving’ Fi, for never giving up.

Thanks to the support of BB and Sophie, doubling up, the 2s took on Findern. Lara had a 100% save record in goal and our team had a confident 4-0 win. We won't mention BB’s misdemeanor but celebrate her goal scoring! 2 goals for her. 1 for our Purps and 1 for Janice. Well played everyone. Joint MOM to Lara and Charity.

Ilkeston 1s took on a well drilled Belper 3 team at lunchtime today.
Belper started quickly and were 5.0 up at half time. However as ever Ilkeston’s never say die attitude meant they kept going until the end. Final score 6.0 Belper, but Ilkeston won on team spirit and togetherness. A joint MOM this week goes to Susie Woo and Beaman .

Against a predominantly young and fast Matlock Development team of 11 outfield players, the 2s battled hard. Lovely to have Lydia back with us for a game and Carla too. Sadly, Carla's reoccurring injury took her off the pitch. Thanks to Manj and Laura for doubling up. Despite our best efforts, we lost 1-0 but everyone played their hearts out.

Ilkeston 1s took on a very neat and tidy Belper 4s early doors this morning. Ilkeston arrived in true style…a little last minute and laced with reluctance to actually engage with the ball before the first whistle. Upon hearing that Spen had forgotten her sports bra, Ilkeston went to pot for the first 20 minutes and soon found themselves 4-0 down and totally amazed at how Spen would survive the game without two black eyes.
Something magical occurred when Ilkeston noticed Belper had a fancy American style computerised scoresheet thing pitchside (technical name for it). Keen to feature, Nay got a great break and found the backboard followed by Big Bird smacking in a short. 4-2 at half time felt fair and after a strategised team talk, Ilkeston came out fighting into the second half. Some other bits and pieces of hockey ensued but it certainly wasn’t embarrassing because it wasn’t 10-2. A perfectly respectable 9-2 final score. MOM goes to Spen’s bra with 12 votes. Charlton played alright too 😏

Ilkeston 2s playing in rain (yet again) it was a loss of a teeny tiny 9-0 against a very fit, well drilled Boots team of quality players. We never gave up and we had them worried in the 2nd half. And for those who stayed for match teas, it was a fantastic cooked breakfast.

Ilkeston 1s took on Lichfield at a lunchtime time push back.
Ilkeston started very quickly and scored within the 1st minute, a goal from our Laws. Lichfield pressed forward and were awarded 2 Penalty flicks. BOTH saved by Joey 🥰 Ilkeston continued to press and work hard and managed a 2nd goal (a rocket) from the brilliant Sophie. Ilkeston defence stood strong and won the game 2.0. Well done ladies, brilliant team work and encouragement today.

MOM of course goes to Jo, for her brilliant saves. Thanks to Dave and Emily who umpired today.

It was a wet and early start against Wulfric. We had a solid back and some great runs up the middle and to the forwards. Emily W did a super save on the line but the silly back stick rule meant Wulfric got a penalty. Ceri saved it beautifully though! Wulfric had some very strong and powerful hits but we finished with a 3-1 win. Fi, Susan and Jane scored with some great assists from Janice and Julie.

Ilkeston 1s took on a very young Ashbourne Team. With a lunchtime push back and the normal vigorous pre match warm up (a stroll onto the pitch!), Ilkeston started well. They were soon 1.0 up quickly, from the weaving stick skills of Laws, then followed a penalty flick from our Nay Nay (🤍😘), then the lovely Gem popped in a 3rd before half time.
The 2nd half Ilkeston continued with Ilkeston attacking well, BB finally got on the score sheet, converting a well worked cross from the right, then BB smashed another from a short! Frosty (not to be overshadowed by BB) converted a pass from a shortcorner to make it 6.0. Sarah Tooney, after working hard all game added a 7th and 8th.
Great team performance from everyone today, the mids and defence working really hard to keep the ball moving and keeping a clean sheet! Well played ladies 🏒👊🏻

A big thank you to our opposition, who never gave up and had a lovely attitude. Lovely game by all.
