It doesn’t get much better than this weekend ❤️

After ending up in hospital unable to walk on Friday it was almost set in stone that I would not be attending the Inter County Challenge at Bicton arena. Thankfully I pulled myself together early Saturday afternoon and persuaded my parents to let me attend.

It was Esker’s first stay away and she definitely didn’t disappoint even after a week off work😅🥰 Sunday morning we rode our first test very safe to score 86.3%. A great score for a young horse having to deal with a massive atmosphere for the first time and put up with a rider who wasn’t feeling 100% still.

Monday afternoon we rode our second test, she was very hot in the warm up and tested me throughout the test, however still scored 86.4% putting us on an average of 86.35%🥳

We were very lucky to be a part of a strong team and Devon were reserve youth champions, to top this off the seniors had also had an amazing weekend which meant Devon were crowned Overall Supreme Champions 2022!

Well done to all involved and thank you to the organisers and county coordinators that made this weekend possible❤️

6 hour trip yesterday to gain our last ICC qualifying score. Esker’s first time in an indoor away from home and she smashed the test gaining 88.1% with lovely comments from the judge.

Still have lots to learn and improvements to make particularly on the right rein but we have high hopes for this mare.

Quick trip out to Sparsholt today to support one of my clients at her second dressage show. Great start to the day with a mishap free warm up and beautifully ridden test to place 2nd. Well done Harriet & Lady 🥰

Next up it was my go to ride a test on Lady, after not competing in 6 months I was slightly nervous but the nerves quickly left when I realised I was late to the warm up…oops🤭 Once again Lady gained another 2nd place which I’m beyond happy with considering I’ve only schooled her a handful of times. ☺️
Great times ahead for this little Welshie❤️

Keeping this young mares work varied by adding some jumps into the mix today. Was a lovely little confidence boost and we both thoroughly enjoyed the session.

January 3rd saw the arrival of a new family member…

A warm welcome to the lovely Esker, a gorgeous 5 year old, 16hh Dutch warmblood from the Netherlands.

The past couple weeks have been spent getting to know eachother and finding out just how sassy this mare is…(plenty of vertical rears along the way)🙈 Today we went to our first outing which was my annual BD youth squad assessment and ICC test qualifier. Very pleased to say we came home with a solid score of 89.2%! Not bad for a combination that’s only been working together 5 weeks🥳

Huge thank you to my family for making this happen and for helping me find a new dancing partner after Hornhoeves Carlos’s sad retirement in October 2021.

*Whittenspond Waltzer (Simba) Update*
I can’t quite get over what an amazing glow up this little c**t has had the past year🥰

This week he was introduced to a roller and was an angel with the whole process and even let me put on his bridle so we could venture to the outdoor arena where he familiarised himself with the busy road and pub next door.

This morning my beautiful boy measured 13.2 at the wither but he is still very much bum high so I’m excited to see what height he makes when he is fully grown😁

Earlier today myself and Hornhoeves Carlos attended Moreton for our Petplan Elementary Silver class.

Unfortunately today was not our day with a few rider errors meaning he cantered instead of doing a medium trot and I walked in the wrong place (thankfully the judges didn’t ring the bell or seem to notice). Apart from that he gave a wonderful ride and we still managed to score 63%+.

Hornhoeves Carlos and I had a lovely afternoon at Kingston Maurward competing in Elementary 43 and 57.

We started off by doing E43 which felt lovely and much improved from our last try at it, gaining a harsh marked 63.79% and putting us into 2nd place.

Next up was E57 which we have never tried before due to the large amounts of canter involved. Thankfully we both kept our focus and came away with 61.61% and another 2nd place.

Now we have a 2 weeks to practice for area festivals 🙈

Hornhoeves Carlos returned to Sparsholt this weekend to ride Elementary 43. After schooling perfectly all week the heat unfortunately got to the both of us during our canter work and we had some heavy mistakes. However, we still managed a 61% test and a 1st place.

Massive thank you goes to my dad for getting Pikachu home and off the lorry as quick as he could as we had to fight our way back through the traffic which took 3 and a half hours (the journey is usually an hour)🙈

Yesterday Hornhoeves Carlos and I attended Moreton and rode both Elementary 40 and 53. Both tests were great and his canter work has improved massively which is something we have always struggled with.

Here he is sporting his 3rd and 4th place rosettes🥰
