A little time lapse of a physio session today on a livery horse that used to be super sensitive to treat but I have worked with the team at allington, vet, owner and most importantly her to find out where and when she is most relaxed to maximise treatment effects so she gets the most out of her physio sessions.

Before vid I carried out a full dynamic assessment first and then a quick initial palpation, range of motion and symmetry assessment, however she can be quite sensitive therefore she is much more amenable when I just crack on and assess as I go through her whole body whilst she relaxes, I like to think I am very thorough as a physio as often problem areas are Identified but compensatory issues can be missed and I also clearly prefer my hands to machines ☺️

Guys please don’t over feed ur dogs or horses be mindful of the size of their stomachs and how they would feed in the wild and they don’t need all the snacks! despite them telling u they do !!! Ur dog should have a waist and u should be able to feel ur horses ribs but not see them if u can’t then they’re too fat! try to make a mental or physical note monthly using a body condition scoring chart as obesity is on the rise and has a lot of negative impacts on ur animals and it’s probably as cruel to over feed as it is to under feed !!!

Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day.

Being over weight will not only make your dog more likely to suffer from painful arthritis but also make the pain the feel due to arthritis more intense.
