Rickmansworth Sailing Club is a hidden gem, on the Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire borders at West Hyde situated between Maple Cross and Denham, just off the A412

The Club sails 52 weeks a year and offers competative racing, family s

ailing and training on its club owned lake of 45 acres. The club has a long and proud history. New members receive a book telling the story of RSC from its' beginning in 1930. The club started at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome and moved to its' present site in 1959, buying the lake from Portland Cement in 1971. Until the early 90's racing was confined to three classes, Fireflys, Int 14 and Mirrors. Today racing is arranged around a handicap fleet but the regular presence of Fireflys and Int 14s reflect earlier days.

Launch and Lunch welcomed a new member today!
We started the session a bit earlier due to a stronger wind forecast for lunch time. Becky took all she has learnt so far and sailed the pico without help today mastering gybes and tacks.
The 2k was then rigged and took all 3 of us for a fantastic, breezy sail down the lake!
Come and join us soon ⛵️

After a really busy day with some beautiful winds yesterday where we had RYA Training, Trojans, Cadets, Paddleboarders, Kayakers and spectators the lake decides to have a rest today. Which is sad for racers!
I did spot this feathery family who are loving life!

Don't forget Wednesday night sailing on, well, Wednesday 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣.
Race starts at 19:15. BBQ is available to use after the race.

An encouraging 11 boats turned out for the weekend at Rickmansworth Sailing Club with many of them coming some significant distance. Visitors came from North Wales, mid Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia which was a fantastic endorsement.

Introducing Launch and Lunch
Every Friday 10 - 12
An opportunity for anyone with little or lots of sailing experience to sail with members and non-members, although an expectation to join would be expected.
Today's forecast was for 17 to 28 mph south easterly winds. Clearly a bit on the gusty side, we decided to play it safe and had an onshore session rigging and derigging a Pico. A nice easy boat to learn to sail in, easy to manage, and rig. Hopefully, we will get out next time to practice what we have learnt today.
We finished off our session with homemade bread and ratatouille with a cuppa, cookie, and a chat with the other members who are working hard to fit our club with a beautiful new kitchen!
The next session is Friday 19th May.
The water temp is warming up so come and join us soon.
