🚴‍♀️ Wednesday Wheelers – Evening Road Ride 🚴‍♂️

Our next evening road ride will take place on Wednesday 24th June.

This will be a short, flat ride at a steady pace, giving us plenty of opportunity to enjoy the scenery and good company with our lovely Wednesday Wheelers. We'll also finish with a stop at The Crown , Brompton on Swale at the end of our ride.

📍 Meet: Outside the shop at 6:15pm

Route:
Skeeby → Scotch Corner → Middleton Tyas → Croft → Dalton-on-Tees → Dalton Gates → Moulton → Scorton → Brompton-on-Swale

Distance: Approximately 25 miles

All are welcome. We simply ask that you are comfortable riding the distance and confident riding in a group.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Please note:
This is an informal social ride and not a professionally guided one.
Everyone is responsible for their own safety and responsible for their own equipment (bike). Everyone should look out for each other, and most importantly we want everyone to enjoy themselves!

It was great to ride again with our frame builder and sprayer, Steve. We rolled out from the shop and were quickly onto the quiet lanes. Thanks to all the Wednesday Wheelers for making him feel so welcome—I'm sure he'll be joining us again soon.❤️

A Sunday road ride in July ending at The Turf Hotel Richmond for lunch.
Since reopening under new management, the Turf has consistently provided The Wednesday Wheelers with a welcoming atmosphere and excellent service after our evening rides. Because of this, I thought it would be lovely to organise a daytime ride that ends there. At 9:00 am on July 26th, we'll all meet outside our shop and ride to Thirsk. In Thirsk, we'll grab a coffee and relax before heading back to Richmond. We will then regroup at the pub for a well-deserved drink before our Sunday lunch. If you are attending this ride, please write your food choice from the menu below in the comments so that the pub knows your orders. I look forward to seeing you all on the 26th of July for what I'm sure will be an amazing time on the bikes together.

The overall distance is around 50 miles, with a stop for coffee in Thirsk. All are welcome; all we ask is that you are capable of riding this distance and can ride in a group.

This is an informal social ride and not a professionally guided one.

Another fantastic turnout for our E-MTB ride last night – the biggest and best yet!

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Lee Stott for not only doing an amazing job of leading the group, but also for showing us such a fantastic route. You made me feel like a kid again, and even the nettle stings couldn't wipe the smile off my face!

As soon as we reached the foot of Fremington Edge, we all knew what was coming. Its vicious gradients and challenging terrain demanded our full attention, with everyone digging deep and putting the power down to get the job done. Once we reached the top, we were rewarded with a much calmer, flatter ride, giving us the chance to chat along the trails and take in the breathtaking scenery with like-minded people.

Later in the ride, after descending the Angry Man Descent, we enjoyed a well-deserved pint outside the Red Lion Inn in Langthwaite before continuing back towards Harkerside. We finished off along the Swale Trail and made our way back to the cars.

What a brilliant evening from start to finish. I can't wait for the next one – watch this space!
Cheers, Mark Jones, You're a diamond!

Caygill bike shop rides.
I'm really excited for our next shop ride! I've been trying to coax our frame builder, Steve, out on a Wednesday evening for about two years, and last week, I finally convinced him. So, next Wednesday, 17th June, we're going to have a lovely ride. It will incorporate a drink three-quarters of the way around at the pub in Kirby Fleetham, where we'll drop Steve off.
Here is the route:
We will all meet outside our shop in Richmond at 6:15 pm and ride to Brompton on Swale, Catterick Village, Hackforth, Crakehall, Bedale, Aiskew, Kirby Fleetham, Scorton, Brompton on Swale, and back to Richmond. The overall distance is around 25 miles.
All are welcome! All we ask is that you are capable of riding the distance and comfortable riding in a group.
I look forward to seeing you all on the 17th. :-)

Please note:
This is an informal social ride and not a professionally guided one.

It was wonderful to see this gentleman again today.

We originally built this Arthur Caygill bike for him back in 1993. Recently, he got in touch to ask whether we could respray the frame, carry out a full service, and replace some of the worn components. I was delighted to say yes!

The transformation has been incredible, and seeing the smile on his face when he collected it made all the hard work worthwhile.

We wish you many more happy miles in the saddle and look forward to hearing all about your very own Tour de France adventures!
