Some thankyous.

Thanks to our club and team captains who have been working with us for months on everything from t-shirt sizes to water stations. This includes Jacqueline Chang, Andrew Kew, Peter Hanslip, Bryn Reynolds, Caitlin Arnold, Chris Kelly, Jay Wadey, Joe Spraggins, Bethany Knowles, Ken Willis, Ange Norris, Terena Hind, Rich Nicholson, Neil Henderson, Colin Muir, Melanie Green, Steve Elliott, Andy Wood, Julian Williams, Nick Sille, Steve Wright, Luc Dinh, Rebecca Bissell, Frank Womelsdorf, Hollie Ryder, Josh Ingold, Graham Hannay, Zoe Faiz, Nick Altmann, Cat O'Shea, Liam Joyce and Richard Cohen.

Thanks to our timekeepers, who set up each stage start and finish, register runners, and get the times on paper and into the system whatever the weather, and then do it all over again each day. This includes Sue Waters, Carla Cotton, Sue Howarth, Sally Boulton, Bob & Jane Wheller, Roy Reeder, Andy Bickerstaff (Ranelagh), Anne Woods, Heather Hodge, Julie Haworth, Ollie Walker and Emily Skipp. AND STOP PUTTING YOUR NUMBERS ON YOUR SHORTS! WE NEED TO SEE THEM!

Thanks to our course markers who drive, cycle, run and walk ahead of the race laying sawdust trails and the occasional orange arrow. This includes David Clarke CBE, Tom Reay (Ranelagh), Mark Thomas, Chrissie Glew, John Greaves, and me. Thanks also to teams from Hillingdon AC and Havering 90 Joggers who prepared and marked tricky sections of stages 4 and 14, especially Andy, Spencer and Melly.

Thanks to our "sensitive site" marshals Helen and Malcolm Davies, who headed over to Great Kingshill with smiles and toilet cleaning equipment in hand to make friends with the village council and the cricket club, hopefully avoiding me having to find a different village to invade each year. They also marshalled at the start and directed the finish setup. Thanks also to Ollie and Emily for a similarly diplomatic charm offensive with Merstham CC.

Thanks to our medics Duncan and Craig, and to their drivers/navigators Kevin Walker (Burgess Hill) and Alex.

Thanks to Evan Bond for designing the t-shirts and leaflets, and to Richard Kirk for our ongoing work bringing our website into the 20th century.

Thanks to Allan Barrie for creating, testing and running the runner registration and results system, which this year included the new Early Starter stuff too. It gets better each time.

Thanks to Alan Mawdsley who spends months calling, pestering and writing to all the landowners, councils and trusts for permissions to run our race.

Thanks to the Bushy Park Sports Club staff for hosting our pre-race meetings as well as the finish, and putting on a yummy and efficient dinner and drinks at the end.

Thanks to The Stragglers including our chair Kevin and our treasurer Phil Hall. Thanks to Kevin and Peter Wedderburn who took on the job of driving around just ahead of the race to check marshals, and standing in where needed.

Thanks to our race adjudicator David Clarke CBE for liaising with me over the year about marshalling and course tweaks, then committing so much time and effort before and during the race to support, marshal and mark the course.

Thanks to my sister Sarah for driving me around the course and somehow knowing where to go every time I was reading a WhatsApp instead of navigating. Thanks also to the other close relatives, friends and GBR legends who booked their free time to help with this race and weren't needed thanks to a big influx of new volunteers. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend off.

Thanks to my wife, professor emeritus and rowing legend Dr. Alex Cutting, without whose brains, organisation skills, patience and kindness none of this would be possible.

And thanks to the people I've forgotten to thank.

Cheers
Pete

The 28th Green Belt Relay was won by Thames Hare & Hounds mixed team with a 6m 14s margin over Ranelagh Harriers men. Thames were also Kings of the Mountains. Results are on https://greenbeltrelay2026.azurewebsites.net/

Ranelagh's women won the women's plate and Queens of the Mountains, while their Supervets (V45+) won the Old Timer trophy and were 5th overall. Serpentine won the veteran's prize, the Walking Stick.

Victoria Park Harriers & Tower Hamlets AC were second in the women's event, 26.2 RRC second men, and Wimbledon Windmilers were second mixed team. London Front Runners were second in the Vets category, while home team The Stragglers were second Supervets.

The Sonia O'Sullivan prize for outstanding individual women went to Tracy Barlow of Clapham Chasers, who achieved a first in winning both of her stages outright, as well as breaking course records. The second of these was the first time that two women have finished first and second overall in a stage, with Lizzy Apsley in second place.

The Mark Critchlow award for outstanding individual men went to Charlie Mason, also of Chasers, who won three stages, the first two breaking stage records and the third doubling up for an injured teammate.

Thanks to all the club captains and runners for also providing marshalling support and water stations around the course, as well as to our timekeepers, course markers, medics, drivers and other core jobs, and to the staff at the Bushy Park Sports Club.

There are many more thanks, stories, achievements, wins and records to describe - it was a great weekend.

Cheers
Pete & Alex
