RHUDDLAN BOWLS CLUB - WELCOME BACK & REQUEST FOR HELP!

Dear all,
I hope you are enjoying the new Bowling season and winning more than losing!
This week the sun is out and Spring has finally arrived for us to enjoy the outside fully.
The green is starting to recover after last summers hot and dry weather and I'm sure under Iwan and the teams work it will soon be one of the best playing surface's around again. We are very lucky to have Iwan, Keith, Paul and Colin to do the work every Monday and Thursday morning all through the year.
They are missing Tony Rainford i know as he was a member of the team until he passed last winter.
Iwan and co. could always do with some help if you fancy joining them - They are at the Green every Monday and Thursday morning 9.30am to 11.30 am and i do know its not all work and they do have a good chat over tea and biscuits putting the world right and hearing Pauls latest brain teasers for quizzes. It is almost a social club with some work thrown in. So please do not be shy.

Over the past 4 years we have been achieving fantastic results and awards in the Wales in Bloom. This has been down to the work done by a team led by Arwel. Unfortunately this year the team is somewhat depleted and Arwel really needs a few willing volunteers to join him to keep the surrounds in the condition we have become accustomed to.
Arwel generally attends on a Monday morning for an hour or two from 9.30am and he would be very grateful if you fancy joining him either now and again or on a regular basis throughout the season. The reward being a beautiful setting to play bowls created by you, fruit from the fruit bushes and tea and biscuits in the clubhouse, plus being with friends. So again please do not be shy its a great way to spend a Monday morning.

Many thanks

Mike Elgin

Sue Griffiths

Dear all members,
I am really sorry to have to report the passing yesterday of Sue Griffiths, Wife of former member Roger Griffiths .Sue was one of the nicest and lovely ladies i have had the pleasure of knowing who despite her disabilities did so much for the club up until this season when her health suffered.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Roger at this sad time.

Rhuddlan Bowls club President Aled Roberts has stood down as President due to health issues. The committee would like to thank Aled for his time as President and wish him well.
The Committee unanimously agreed that Mr Colin Holmes would be an excellent new President for the club. After being asked by the Chair, Colin has agreed to be the new President, which is great news.
Colin has been a member of the club for many years and last November was made a life member in the AGM. He is an active member of the Greens maintenance team which meets twice a week all year round with his carpentry skills being a huge asset to the club.
We will be holding a Presidents day competition for Colin this season which I'm sure he will enjoy.

Radio interview next week by Radio Cymru focusing on Club Bowlio Rhuddlan.

Radio Cymru contacted me today as Chair due to seeing a article in Y Glannau written by Awen Roberts about the club. They want to interview someone on their radio show next week from the club to explain the game and tell how bowling has enhanced their life's etc.

I described how Awen is a fairly new player but is extremely keen to improve and as she was the author of the article and a Welsh speaker which was required she would be the perfect person to interview.

Radio Cymru have subsequently contacted Awen and she has agreed to be interviewed.

The show is on next Thursday 12th March at 12.10pm.

I am sure people will be interested to hear Awen on the Radio
A big thank you to Awen- Diolch

Mike
