Arfon Jones was clealrly chuffed to bits with his first hole in one today on the 7th at Pwllglas during the Tuesday roll up competition. Arfon has left of bottle of scotch on the bar for members to have a celebratory drink with him. Many congratulation Arfon.

Competition Results week ending 14th June 2026.

Two competitions over the weekend with the over 55s competing for the Veterans cup whilst everyone else competed for the June monthly medal. Alan Foster won the Veterans cup with a nett score of 62 just beating Ian Vaughan-Evans who won division 1 and Elgan Roberts who won division two by one shot. Mike Price was second in division 1 with Eddie Fitzsimmons third. Keith Rogers was second in division 2 with Arfon Jones third.

Adam Smith won the June monthly medal with an excellent nett score of 63 (65 gross). Alistair Dodd won division 1 with Arfon Thomas second and Joshua Duckworth third. Dyfan Humphreys won division 2 with Rhys T Jones second and Robbie Williams third.

The 2026 Springman Cup took place this week with the pairing of Brenda Roberts and Ann Ellis Davies scoring an excellent 43 points to win the cup. Catherine Parton and Vicky Harrison were second with Janet Turner and Alison Muir third.

Some excellent scoring in the mid-week summer league this week with seven players scoring 29 pts. Gareth Humphreys was the winner on count back with Gareth Williams in second and Rhys Owen in third. Osian Williams has developed a healthy seven point lead at the top of the table with Harri Vaughan second and Catherine Parton third.

Competition Results week ending 7th June 2026.

Lady Captain Angela Robinson held her Captains’ day at the golf club on Saturday with past Captain June Brady scoring an excellent 36 points to win the competition. Full details and photos to follow.

Sue Roberts won the GUW Medal and D&F Coronation medal scoring a net 71 with Ann Ellis Davies second and Catherine Parton third.

Tom Dyer was in excellent form mid-week winning week 3 of the summer league with a fantastic score of 33 points. Matthew Duckworth wasn’t far behind scoring 32 points with Nia Morgan in third with 31 points. After three rounds of the summer league youngsters Harri Vaughan and Osian Williams are in the top two places with John Stubbs in third place.

Alun Vaughan-Evans was in sparkling form over the weekend scoring 41 points to win the May Stableford competition. Alistair Dodd won division 1 with Dylan Jones second and Meirion Williams third. Osian Williams won division 2 with Noel Davies second and Bob Mason third.

Nia Wynn Davies was the winner of the Angela Stuart Stableford Trophy on Wednesday scoring an excellent 41 points with Mari Gaskell in second and Catherine Parton third.

Another excellent turnout for week 2 of the 13 hole summer league competition with 53 players taking part. Nia Morgan was the winner scoring an excellent 30 points just beating Alan Foster who also scored 30 points with Huw Jones in third.

Sixty nine players competed for the D P Lloyd Davies Trophy over the weekend with Arwyn Evans winning the trophy with an excellent 40 points. Star of the show over the weekend however was Bob Mason with his first ever hole in one on the 7th hole – many congratulations Bob. Photo to follow later this week. In form Gareth Williams won division 1 with 38 points with Kim Webb second and Gordon Mckie third. Keith Rogers won division 2 with Gareth Pierce second and Colin Moneypenny third.

Sisters in law Ann Ellis Davies and Nia Wynn Davies battled it out for the GUW medal and Lady Captains’ Centenary Trophy last Wednesday with Ann Ellis Davies eventually winning by two clear shots from Nia with Vicky Harrison in third place.

The Ladies and Gents 13 hole summer league started last week with 51 players taking part. Arfon Thomas was the winner with 29 pts just beating John Stubbs who also had 29 pts with Harri Vaughan in third.

In From Mari Gaskell was again the winner of the Ladies nine hole mid-week competition scoring 21 pts with Ann Hughes second and Meriel Stark third.

Forty six Members and guests took part in the 9 hole Friday fun scramble with the Morgan family of Steve, Nia and Sam ably supported by Harri Vaughan winning the competition. Vice-Captain John Vaughan was in outstanding form on Saturday morning scoring a level par 33 for the first nine holes and finishing with a net 61 to win the Centenary Trophy 2026. Gareth Williams who won division 1 with Adam Fitzsimmons second and Meirion Williams third. Dafydd Lloyd Jones won division 2 with Joe Jones second and Gary Evans third.

Brenda Roberts and Catherine Parton won the Ladies Centenary Greensomes qualifier with Sue Roberts and Lady Captain Angie Robinson second.

Mari Gaskell won the Ladies nine hole mid-week competition with Pauline Jones second and Meriel Stark third.

The Gents played the first leg of the annual friendly away against Llangollen on Sunday and came away with a very credible 4-4 draw.
