Over the last month or so I've had a very similar conversation with three different members πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

All of them work away. All of them train in gyms across the country when they're away from home. All of them said this....

"Working away and training in random gyms has made me appreciate the Pump House so much."

Not because our equipment was better. Not because we're cheaper. Not because we're quieter.

Because of our atmosphere 🀘

One mentioned feeling unwelcome there. Another said nobody spoke to each other. One said he felt like he was constantly in someone's way, being rushed or waiting to use equipment like it was a "post office queue" πŸ™„

All of them described gyms where people walk in, stick their headphones on, avoid eye contact, do their session and leave.

To be fair, some people probably like that. But thats not were about. To us, a gym should be more than just somewhere to train.

Most of our members know each other.

Most of our coaches know your name.

If you're struggling with something, somebody will probably offer to help.

If you're new, you'll probably end up in conversation with someone within ten minutes.

If you disappear for a few weeks, somebody will usually ask where you've been.

You can't buy that! And you certainly can't create it by hanging a few motivational quotes on a wall.

The reality is that all gyms are full of barbells, dumbbells, treadmills and machines.

That's the easy bit when developing a gym. And there's nothing unique about that, no matter how much it costs.

What makes a place different is the people inside it. Good people, positive people, motivated people, friendly people... and fortunately for us, we've got some cracking ones here 🀘

And judging by the conversations I've had recently, that's something we will always be proud of and we will never take it for granted.

Our members mean everything to us πŸ’ͺ

Here's another area within The Pump House β€” our machine room.

Packed with equipment designed to support strength, fitness, and overall physical development, this space offers an incredible variety of training options.

With so much equipment and usable floor space, you'll rarely see members waiting for machines, allowing everyone to train efficiently and comfortably.

One of my favourite moments is watching prospective members' faces light up when they first step into this room and realise just how much is available to them.

🚨 Nutrition Truth Bombs 🚨

Every calorie-controlled diet works! Low carb. Paleo. Keto. Carnivore. Caveman. Whatever! If you're in a deficit it will work! Your energy, strength, mood, stress etc can be effected depending on what you're cutting out or if you're going too extreme, but thats a whole other conversation πŸ‘

Nonetheless, it is not because carbohydrates are some evil force sent to destroy humanity.

Your body needs carbs. They fuel performance, recovery, brain function and fill your muscles.

Carbo-HYDRATE.... clues in the name!

πŸ— "Made with 100% Chicken Breast" doesn't mean the product is 100% chicken breast. It means the 5% of that nugget, which is chicken, is 100% chicken breast. Always read the ingredients!

🍬 Tic Tacs are basically sugar. In fact, they're almost entirely sugar. They're only allowed to be labelled "sugar free" because each serving is tiny enough to fall below labelling thresholds. Plenty of other "food" does this to make you buy their poison ☠️

πŸ§‚ Sugar isn't bad πŸ§‚ Salt isn't bad.

Your body needs both!! The problem is getting them from fizzy drinks, sweets, takeaways and ultra-processed foods while consuming far more than you actually need.

If you want one simple rule that would improve most people's diet overnight: Cut back heavily on ultra-processed and fried foods.

πŸ«’ If you're using oils, ditch the partially hydrogenated oils and heavily processed oils where possible. Use quality olive oil for most things and coconut oil where appropriate.

πŸ’§ Want an easy health win? Have a glass of water between coffee throughout your day. Plus, if you're out drinking alcohol, have a glass of water between drinks... your body will thank you tomorrow.

None of this is controversial.

It's basic nutrition.

And finally...

Sometimes it's easy to focus on what's next and forget to look at what's just happened.

This week alone we've had:

βœ… Multiple rings on the "Personal Best Bell" πŸ””
βœ… Busy classes πŸ₯΅
βœ… PTs fully booked helping clients move, feel and perform better πŸ’ͺ
βœ… Continued improvements and development work around the facility πŸ”¨
βœ… New equipment ordered and on its way πŸ‘€
βœ… A good friend successfully pass his Level 3 Personal Training qualification πŸŽ‰
βœ… Hef keeping busy creating more incredible tattoos πŸ–ŠοΈ
βœ… Tom and Zac helping people recover, move better, feel better and in less discomfort πŸ’ͺ
βœ… And conversations with a new PT who'll hopefully be joining the team soon... watch this space πŸ‘€

What makes us proud isn't any one thing.....It's seeing a building full of people all working towards different goals:

Some training. Some coaching. Some learning. Some recovering. Some building businesses. Some changing lives.....All under one roof.

The Pump House has never just been about lifting weights.

It's about creating a place where good people can grow, whether that's physically, professionally or personally.
