🏠 Imagine sharing your home with 15 other people!
We were able to talk to someone whose great-great grandfather lived in the Navvies Village that predated the Arts and Crafts Elan Village. Here are his memories:
"John and Eliza settled in the Navvies Village in Elan Valley. They lived in "Hut 23", which was actually one of the premium models at the time, costing £131.
The setup? A living room and two bedrooms for John, Eliza, and their six children. But it also packed in eight tiny 6-foot x 6-foot rooms built specifically for boarders.
With six kids of her own and eight lodgers to feed, clean up after, and look after, Eliza was the ultimate definition of hard-working. To say she was 'fairly busy' is a massive understatement!"

🏠 Dychmygwch rannu’ch cartref gyda 15 o bobl eraill!
Buom yn siarad â rhywun yr oedd ei hen, hen dad-cu yn byw ym Mhentref y Labrwyr, a oedd yn bodoli cyn Pentref Celf a Chrefft Elan. Dyma ei atgofion:
“Ymgartrefodd John ac Eliza ym Mhentref y Labrwyr yng Nghwm Elan. Roedden nhw'n byw yng "Nghwt 23", a oedd mewn gwirionedd yn un o'r modelau gorau ar y pryd, yn costio £131.
Y cynllun? Ystafell fyw a dwy ystafell wely i John, Eliza, a'u chwe phlentyn. Ond roedd hefyd yn cynnwys wyth ystafell fach iawn, 6 troedfedd wrth 6 troedfedd, a adeiladwyd yn benodol ar gyfer tenantiaid.
Gyda chwe phlentyn ei hun ac wyth o denantiaid i'w bwydo, glanhau ar eu hôl, a gofalu amdanynt, roedd Eliza yn ddiwyd iawn. Mae dweud ei bod hi'n 'weddol brysur' ymhell o’r realiti a dweud y gwir!
