Last Saturday, the Reigate Heath Scratch Team took on the mighty Surrey County A Team in their annual showdown. Back in 2025, Reigate Heath ran out winners, but this year, the County A team arrived for battle having gone undefeated all season!

The morning Foursomes saw the County team flex their muscles with a 3-1 lead, with only Eddie Fisher and James Gregg earning a point for the home side.

After a delicious lunch break, the singles matches teed off. Dai Bader played really well and got a dazzling victory, and Damian Arnold secured a draw in his game, but the County squad clinched a decisive 8.5 - 3.5 victory!

Meanwhile, in the triangular tussle, RHGC Directors & Captains faced off against Surrey County Golf and Walton Heath GC committees. The match wrapped up in a friendly 4-4-4 draw. Walton Heath GC, the 2025 champs, keep the trophy for another year!

This historic golf fixture celebrates the tri-club camaraderie. A massive shout goes to Reigate Heath Members for kindly freeing up tee times to make this day happen.

For the third time in four years, Claire Brown and Emma Bader from Reigate Heath have taken the Surrey Women's Golf - Centenary Foursomes crown!

Sunday saw the finals unfold at the stunning Royal Wimbledon GC, where Claire and Emma triumphed over a formidable Royal Mid-Surrey GC duo. Despite their opponents clawing back from 3 down to push the match to the 18th hole, our dynamic pair held their nerve to clinch the victory 2up, taking the title once more!

With nine adult and two junior county finals happening, the Women's section at Reigate Heath GC was on a winning spree! 🚀

In the Inter Club Handicap Foursomes Final, it was a Reigate Heath GC triumph! This teamwork extravaganza saw RHGC's Viv Harrison, Claire Brown, Emma Bader, Chris Braidwood, and Nicky Vickery battle through the many knockout rounds to reach the final.

In the ultimate showdown, Nicky Vickery and Chris Braidwood delivered a golf masterclass against Ashford Manor. With dazzling play from the get-go, they conquered the match 4&3, hoisting the trophy alongside Viv, Claire, and Emma. 🏆

In a double celebration for Reigate Heath GC Women's Section kudos has to go to RHGC Legend and former Surrey Women's Golf President, Chris Braidwood, on her first-ever Surrey County Final win! Plus, Nicky Vickery, just two years out of the RHGC Academy, is now also able to call herself a County Champion! Sensational progress, Nicky, and we're all pumped to see what 2027 holds for your golfing journey.

The fab five banded together to bring home both titles, and everyone at RHGC is cheering your astounding achievements. Here's to a sensational season of Surrey Women's County Golf. Bravo to all of you!

A Taste of Reigate Heath

We’re delighted to introduce two new gins and a new rum to the bar, produced for us by the Folkestone Distillery - a business with a rather special connection to Reigate Heath.

The distillery’s story actually began here on Reigate Heath, making these small-batch spirits a particularly fitting addition to our bar.

Members can now enjoy our Craft Dry Gin, Craft Aromatic Gin and Craft Spiced Rum, all presented in our own Reigate Heath Golf Club bottles featuring the iconic windmill.

So, next time you’re in the clubhouse, why not try something new? Whether you prefer a classic dry gin, something a little more aromatic, or a warming spiced rum, there’s now a distinctly Reigate Heath option waiting behind the bar.

The Wednesday Night Roll-Up.
We had glorious weather for the conclusion of this year’s Wednesday night rollup when 27 players competed in a Texas scramble. The winning team of Andy Johnson, Bob Brown and Bill F**d scored 26 just pipping Mark Pain, Flo Coyle and Nick White on 27.

It will come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the weekly updates in the newsletter that Paul Watson won the order of merit with defending champion Bob Brown finishing in the runners up spot. Genevieve Wells and Martin Cox were joint third and Paul Fisher fifth. Genevieve also won the ‘keen as mustard’ award for attending 22 of the 25 weekly rollups.

Diane Bailey – Curtis Cup Celebrations.
It is 40 years since Diane successfully captained the GB & Ireland team to victory against the USA in the Curtis Cup on American soil. The Reigate Heath ladies are very proud to have Diane as a member of our section and we wanted to commemorate her historic achievement in some way. To start, we had a 9-hole Greensomes competition with pairs playing either for Diane’s GB & Ireland team or Chris’s USA team. Much fun was had and I’m delighted to say that Diane’s team prevailed once again.

After the match, Diane gave us a very interesting and inspiring talk, recounting her golfing career. It was fascinating to hear about the steps she and her team took to create the winning formula. We all learnt a lot and have some nuggets of advice to carry forward into our own golf.

Women's Surrey Centenary Foursomes. Huge congratulations to Claire Brown and Emma Bader who beat Horton Park at the RAC to make it through to the final of the Surrey Women's Centenary Foursomes.

The Selling Plate.
The newly configured St Andrews Greensomes Selling Plate Trophy was played in glorious Autumn sunshine last Sunday.

Traditionally this fixture has been only for married couples, but for the first time this year was opened up to also include any mixed pairs. Rhona Hamilton and Mike Kent were victorious with 41 points, closely followed in second place on countback by Gillian McCluskey and Martin Cox.

Captains Charity Day - Thank you
Over 65 members played in the Captains Day competitions on Saturday - the weather just about stayed dry (albeit a little breezy), and everyone got round before the light faded!

Congratulations to the am winners (Alec and Sarah Lugg) and pm winners (Chris Braidwood and Rhona Hamilton), plus nearest pin on 18 (Rob Wicks and Tony Brooks).

It was great to see the club so full at lunchtime to support the auction, expertly run by Kyle Haughton (and his able assistant, Chris Hannigan).

Lou and I are delighted to announce that the day raised a fantastic total of £13,180 for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex. This was only possible thanks to the members and friends who donated auction items and those who bid so generously. There are too many people to thank individually, but we are grateful to each and every one of you.

We also drew the raffle for a years membership - the winning ticket was bought by Martin Borg, who was at the club and could not quite believe he had won!

We have a few more fundraising events, such as the Christmas raffle and a very special musical donation (more about this another time), but Charity Day was our focus this year. For those who were at the club on Saturday, we played a video of a patient story explaining what a difference the Air Ambulance can make.

Autumn has arrived at Reigate Heath GC and it's brought some much needed rain! Recently we've seen Matt and his team take on work which will see us through the coming months but also repair work given the very hot summer weather we had!

So far in September we've had some smashing results across the club and here's some highlights;

The Men’s Invitation Day took place on Friday 11th September and proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable day, with good weather, great company and some excellent golf.

The 27-hole format provided plenty of variety, with nine holes each of Greensomes, Foursomes and Four-Ball Better Ball.

Congratulations to our overall winners, John Bramhall and his guest Tiku Patel, who produced the best performance across the three formats.

Claire Brown took first spot in the September Mixed Medal producing an excellent nett 68 to take first place.

The Men’s Autumn Meeting took place on Saturday September 5th and proved to be a great day of golf. Congratulations to all of our winners and runners-up which included;

Dudley Pratt Salver - Spring & Autumn Aggregate Handicap Winner: Rob Wicks

There were lots of trophies to be had in the Ladies Autumn Meeting with some outstanding performances - in particular, Claire Brown, winning overall and the silver Scratch Rawlinson Trophy with 83 and now getting cut to her lowest handicap ever- well done! Rhona Hamilton won the bronze Scratch Pickford Trophy with 102. The handicap Coleman Cup was won by Sally Dunscombe on nett 72, piping Nicola Vickey to it on count back, closely followed by Gen Wells on 73. The Beryl Waley & Rothschild trophies for aggregate scratch & handicap went to Claire Brown & Gen Wells respectively. The Veterans Trophy was won for the 2nd time by Susie Redburn, the Putting Award by Gail Phipps and Liz Seldon won the 9 hole blue award.

Today, Tuesday 08 September 2026 is International ThankAGreenkeeper Day and we'd certainly like to celebrate our incredible Course Manager Matt and his brilliant team.

Matt is responsible for keeping Reigate Heath GC in the outstanding condition we come to expect but also a condition that makes RHGC the No.6 Best 9-Hole Golf Course in the WORLD!

Hats off to you Matt and here's to recognising all the immense work you do which makes us all love The Heath!

August brought more intense weather with scorching temperatures but in the past few days we've welcomed some much needed rain!

We've celebrated lots of club competitions as well as some impressive team wins both home and away.

Our Course Manager Matt and his incredible team have had to endure arguably the toughest working conditions since taking the helm at Reigate Heath GC. The weather has been relentless but there efforts have produced an incredible course for us to play on...we thank you Matt and Team.

We'll see you all again in September where we'll look forward to Captain's David and Louise Charity Day 2026

How The 1895 Club Works

Reciprocal Access: Members can play rounds at participating partner clubs either free of charge or at a heavily discounted rate!

Distance Rule: Reciprocal privileges generally apply only to courses located a minimum distance (typically 75 miles / 120 km) away from your home club.

Network Size: The partnership gives Reigate Heath Golf Club members access to more than 50 other historic golf courses worldwide!

We are hiring within our Hospitality Team here at Reigate Heath Golf Club!

We are looking for a Bar Person where the role is part-time with a mix of midweek and weekend shifts. Candidates must be over 18 years old, experience preferred but not necessary as full training will be provided.

You will be responsible for providing a warm and welcoming service to our members and guests, serving drinks, food and maintaining a clean and well-presented bar.
