๐Ÿ“‹ Weekly Course Update

June has arrived in unsettled style! Following last week's 42mm of rainfall, further rain over recent days has brought our monthly total to 65mm - slightly above average and very welcome after a dry spring. The moisture has made a real difference, boosting turf health right across the course.

๐ŸŸข On the Greens

Greens are putting beautifully at what is peak season. Following last week's double verti-cutting and light top-dressing, growth has been steady and consistent. This week we took the opportunity to open the greens with solid tine aeration before applying our monthly wetting agent - washed in perfectly by yesterday's rain. As the week has progressed, mowing and rolling frequency has been increased to ensure they are in the best possible shape for the weekend.

Looking ahead to next week, we plan to apply a feed and plant growth regulator on Monday. With a changeable forecast and the earlier talk of a heatwave now thankfully off the table - we'll assess conditions early in the week before deciding on any further greens maintenance.

โ›ณ Around the Course

Recent solid tine aeration and wetting agent applications on the tees have done their job well, with soil profiles much healthier and previously stressed areas showing strong recovery. Settled temperatures next week should also allow us to feed the tees and approaches and apply a selective herbicide.

All areas of the course have been mown in preparation for the weekend's competition, with fairways and semi receiving one cut and tees and surrounds receiving two. Surrounds will also be cut over the weekend.

๐Ÿ† This Weekend

Final tournament preparations, including bunker work and detail finishing, are complete. The weather looks to have settled just in time. Good luck to all competitors! ๐Ÿคž

Enjoy your golf!

๐Ÿ† Ladies Invitation Day

19 pairs took to the course for our Ladies Invitation Day, and what a day it was - mostly dry, with some super golf played throughout.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Taking the overall prize with an impressive 42 stableford points were Liz M and Kathryn L

๐Ÿฅˆ Runners-up with 41 points were Jean M and Maureen C

And as the photos show, the course looked absolutely stunning despite the changeable weather. โ›ณ

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special.

๐Ÿ“‹ Weekly Course Update
After an exceptionally dry spring, the course received a very welcome 42mm of rainfall this week. The combination of moisture and more moderate temperatures has provided a timely boost to turf health across the course, stimulating strong, consistent growth on all playing surfaces and arriving at an ideal time as we begin preparations for the Club Championships.

๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Weather & Conditions
The rain has been a real tonic for the course. Warmer soil temperatures combined with the recent moisture have encouraged strong growth across all surfaces, and the team has been busy maintaining presentation standards throughout the week - with greens, tees, approaches, fairways and semi-rough all receiving attention.

๐ŸŸข On the Greens
Greens received a double verti-cut followed by a light top dressing, continuing our programme of reducing organic matter and refining the surface for a firmer, smoother putting experience. A light nutritional feed has also been applied to maintain plant health and support recovery following the recent period of warm weather.

๐ŸŒฑ Around the Course
We have continued our moisture management programme with a wetting agent application to tees and approaches. This improves water infiltration and moisture retention within the soil profile, helping these areas deliver more consistent conditions throughout the summer months.

The team has also completed solid tining on tees and surrounds - relieving surface compaction, improving air exchange and promoting healthier rooting across these high-wear areas.

๐Ÿ† Course Projects & Looking Ahead
With the Club Championships taking place next weekend, preparations are now well underway. Our focus over the coming days will be on presenting the course in the very best condition while continuing to support the health and resilience of the turf. We will monitor growth rates closely and adjust mowing frequencies and maintenance practices as conditions evolve.

The recent rainfall has certainly given the course a welcome boost, and we look forward to seeing members enjoy the benefits over the coming weeks.

Enjoy your golf!

๐Ÿ“‹ Weekly Course Update
As we approach the end of May, the weather looks set to turn much more summer-like. We're now only a week away from the start of summer, and perhaps it's fitting that spring should close out with some warm, dry weather - overall it has been a largely fine and dry spring, much like last year.

โ›ณ On the Greens
This week we carried out further surface refinement on the greens, with higher moisture levels enabling another verti-cut and light top dress. Keeping the plant refined helps surfaces stay firm, and top dressing protects the crown of the plant - reducing stress and ensuring consistent performance.

๐ŸŒฟ Around the Course
Recovery is well underway on areas previously affected by the dry spell, with the combination of recent rain and rising temperatures setting things up nicely for the weeks ahead.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Course Projects
Ongoing focus on green surface refinement through verti-cutting and top dressing to maintain firmness and protect plant health heading into summer.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Looking Ahead
With summer just around the corner and soil temperatures stabilising, we should start to see growth kick on properly. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend! ๐ŸŒž

Enjoy your golf!

๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Weather & Conditions
After a long run of high pressure and mostly dry weather, conditions have finally shifted, and this week brought the first significant rainfall on the Heath in over two months. The week has been noticeably cool, especially on Monday night, with a real chill in the south London air as I watched Hull City dismantle Millwall to book their place at Wembley. As I made my way into work bleary-eyed on Tuesday morning, the temperature dipped below zero, almost unheard of at this time of year.

The unsettled weather has been long overdue and will not harm the course as we look to regain some moisture. Despite the rain, growth remains extremely slow, with low day and night temperatures this week, coupled with northerly winds. With more rain, followed by a warm-up forecast next week, things should stabilise and growth should thrive over the coming weeks.

โ›ณ On the Greens
Despite little growth, most playing surfaces are close to where we want them. The key now is to maintain them. Greens will be sprayed with a feed and growth regulator this weekend and received a wetting agent before yesterday's showers. We will continue to closely monitor nutrition and moisture levels as we move towards the start of summer, as this is when stress disease will begin to come onto our radar.

๐ŸŒฟ Around the Course
The spring meetings were a success, with the weather mostly on the side. The course was fiery, and the greens played firm and fast, exactly as we would want them for a major competition. Hopefully, all those who played enjoyed the course.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Looking Ahead
Some more welcome rainfall is forecast over the coming days, but there is already some suggestion that warmer weather is going to return by the bank holiday weekend.

Enjoy your golf.
