Saturday saw Toby Briggs eclipse David Edge’s long-standing club record of 530 league wickets across all XIs. Briggsy’s superb spell of 2-15 for the 3s against Sutton took his career tally to an incredible 532 league wickets for the Llamas, including a best of 7-30 against Guildford 2s in 2002.
His breakdown of wickets is -
1st XI - 103
2nd XI - 315
3rd XI - 106
4th XI - 5
5th XI - 3
Sitting in third place on the all-time list is club President Andy Packham on 464 wickets. Notably, Briggsy and Packers stand alone as the only two bowlers in club history to have taken over 100 league wickets for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd XIs.
Rounding out the top five are Simon Wickham on 403, and James Brickley on 349 - a tally that would undoubtedly be higher if the 4th XI scorebooks hadn't mysteriously gone missing over the years!
