Last weekend RRKC instructors Nick Bland (Nick Bland) and Nigel Earnshaw were honoured to attend a seminar with Hanshi Akihito Yagi Sensei 10th Dan (Akihito Yagi) hosted by Meibukan Goju-Ryu London

Hanshi Akihito Yagi is chairman of International Meibukan Goju-Ryu and head of the Hombu dojo in Naha, Okinawa. Attendees were also treated to a special performance from the London Okinawa Sanshinkai!

It is not often that Okinawan masters travel to the UK and RRKC was honoured to be in attendance!

Rick Hotton Sensei is the founder of Sunday Morning Keiko. This year marks his 50th year of teaching. For over 40 years he has been the head instructor of West Wind Karate Dojo in Sarasota, Florida. Hotton Sensei’s teaching combines Karate practice with Aikido, which he learnt from Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, a direct disciple of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba.

Sensei Aidan Trimble is the Chief Instructor and founder of the international association The Federation of Shotokan Karate. Sensei Trimble began training in karate at the age of eleven and won his first British title at the age of 17. That same year he was selected for the England squad and was a member of the team that won the European Championships in Germany in 1978. In 1983 Aidan became the first Non-Japanese to win a World Karate Title in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 22. In 2016 Sensei Trimble was awarded his 8th Dan by the English Karate Federation.

We were pleased to partner with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service for International Women’s Day 2026 running a series of self protection seminars. We covered a range of topics including various de-escalation tactics and some foundational techniques key for effective self defence
