We extremely lucky today, we saw about six kingfishers and the rain held off for most of the day. We did have to rescue a sheep which was stuck in the water and couldn’t get back on to the bank, it was cold and not happy but atleast it lives another day. 🐑

This afternoon we had a lovely group out celebrating a 10th birthday, it started of quite windy, but it wasn’t long till the river was mill pond flat and beautiful reflections from the trees were in the water. The boys got stuck in and were desperate for a swim, it’s always a lot of fun just messing about in boats.

“Alro’s words today, we need to find somewhere new to ride!” 🚴‍♀️🌻
So, with that in mind, I thought, we’ve never ridden around Catterick Garrison! Off we went in search of bridleways, cycle paths and a little adventure.
We found some beautiful urban XC riding, you don’t have to venture far to discover somewhere new. 🌿🚲
It turned into the perfect cycle and foraging ride, with plenty of juicy blackberries along the way and the most beautiful field of sunflowers. 🌻🫐

What a lovely day out on the water today! 🛶☀️
We welcomed a fantastic group from in East Yorkshire, who swapped their walking boots for kayaks and paddled from Ripon to Boroughbridge.

They had a brilliant time and we were treated to three sightings of a kingfisher along the way! 💙 What a special bonus.
One thing we are definitely short of at the moment is water! 💧 I honestly can’t remember seeing the River Ure this low. Let’s hope we get some much needed rain soon.

We’ve had a fantastic day out canoeing today with a lovely couple and their two gorgeous Staffies! 🛶🐶🐶
We weren’t quite sure how they’d react to being in the canoe, so we took things slowly starting with a bit of land-based play in the canoe, then sitting in it on the bank before venturing onto the water.
It didn’t take them long to feel right at home! One even had a little snooze, while the other was more interested in getting their paws in the water. 😂💦
They headed home with two very happy dogs and two very happy owners too! ❤️

We’ve made it back just in time to watch the sun go down at home! 🌅 It’s always such a beautiful feeling driving back into Swaledale. 💚
We had a lovely final evening just outside of Calais with a couple from Belgium playing cards, drinking beer and putting the world to rights. 🍻 The warm layers even had to come out, which was a first for the whole trip! Mid 20’s feels cold when you’ve spent two weeks around the mid 30’s! 🤣
We’ve had an absolutely amazing time away and made some brilliant memories. A huge thank you is owed to the staff for keeping everything going while I was away. Gem and I really do appreciate it. As the cliché goes, the children are only young once, so you’ve got to make the most of that time together. ❤️
I’m back in the office in the morning and back out on the ground working on Thursday. I can’t wait to get stuck back in and spend time with folk (working) in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales again.
Thanks for following along with our little adventure, I will write a blog on it soon! 💚
