So, last year I went back to karate after a 20 year break. I was worried I would find it tough… and I do… but I am loving it.

I’m not much for fighting, but I love kata. When this year’s BKG national Clicker and Kata competition was announced I decided to enter… mainly because it would force me to spend some time relearning and improving my kata: a bit of self development.

It was a VERY dodgy start to the competition for me… but then this! 1st in the veteran category. Most unexpected 😂
The rest of my club did really well too. Great to be part of such a supportive team.

The BKG hosted a great day. Congratulations to all the competitors, thanks to all the supporters, Shihan Darren and everyone else who made the day possible. Osu!

You may not be aware that as well as an independent personal trainer, I am the Exercise Referral Coordinator at the YMCA in Redhill.

We are very excited to be able to offer these specialist classes for those currently undergoing cancer treatment, or those recovering from cancer.

When you get to the top of Arthur’s Seat, after makes you take a fairly ridiculous route up, only to hear ‘excuse me, are you Carmel?’
Lovely to properly meet and , two ex Gym Group members (who I remember trained their asses off!) and the beautiful little passenger Mike carried, Octavia ❤️
Of course, I then twice nearly got blown off the top of the seat which detracted from the magic somewhat!

Took a break from the September burpee challenge on Sunday to run a cjeeky 5k at Run Reigate.

Currently sitting at 1165 burpees out of 2000 for this month… if you are able to donate I would be very grateful. Help for Heroes is a very worthy cause.

On a side note, the two lovelies in the picture wearing green are Martin’s clients and ran the 5k with a 20kg load each… amazing work from Viki and Jack!
