REDDITCH 6–0 SUTTON 🤍🩶

What. A. Performance. 👏🔥

The boys started strongly against a competitive Sutton side who enjoyed spells on the ball, but Redditch were absolutely ruthless when the opportunities came.

⚽ 1–0 – Ryan Sproston
Kem Nedjat broke free before squaring across goal for Sproz to poke home and get us underway.

⚽ 2–0 – Az Benton
The skipper doubled the advantage, latching onto a ball from Kev Smith before firing home.

⚽ 3–0 – Kem Nedjat
A brilliant interception from Dan Bowen — who seemed to be everywhere today — started the move, with Nedjat getting free and finding the net.

⚽ 4–0 – Sam Bentley
Bentley rounded off a superb first half, breaking down the right before finding the net from distance.

HALF-TIME: REDDITCH 4–0 SUTTON

A couple of changes at the break saw Dan Nurthen introduced up top, and it didn’t take him long to make his mark.

⚽ 5–0 – Dan Nurthen
Another devastating Redditch counter ended with Nedjat unselfishly squaring for Nurthen to tap into an empty net.

The afternoon then took a slight turn when birthday boy Chris Brazier saw red after a last-man challenge went wrong — an earlier shower than planned on his birthday! 🟥🎂

Despite going down to ten men, there was absolutely no let-up. The boys stayed organised, worked for each other and never gave Sutton a chance to find a way back into the game.

Nurthen continued to cause problems, driving at the Sutton defence before being brought down in the box.

Nurth stepped up and calmly dispatched the penalty for his second of the afternoon.

Kem Nedjat certainly isn’t short of self-belief — and to be fair, the stats usually give him something to shout about. 😂

Next up in our Meet the Team series is a player who has really made his mark since returning to the group…

Back with Redditch for the last six months, Craig Wood has quickly cemented his place in midfield and become one of the most reliable players in the squad.

Calm on the ball, blessed with quick feet and always looking to make something happen, Woody has already been voted one of the most skilful players in the group several times by his teammates.

He’s composed in possession, hard to knock off the ball and always seems to have that extra second to pick the right pass.

And he contributes off the pitch too — regularly sorting the food after games and helping keep the lads well fed after 90 minutes! 😂🍔

Back by popular demand… in the pub last night…

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Dan Nurthen – yesterday’s match winner, one of the biggest characters in the squad.

Dan has become a real fan favourite, bringing plenty of energy, quality and personality every time he pulls on the shirt. And after popping up with the winner yesterday, there probably couldn’t be a better time to put him in the spotlight.

⚽ MATCH REPORT | REDDITCH 3–2 SANDWELL ⚽

A dominant display from Redditch saw the boys come out on top in a five-goal thriller and getting the finals day monkey off our backs, making it a 3–2 win over Sandwell! 💪⚪️

Redditch started brightly and deservedly took the lead through Kem Nedjat. Admin may have missed the goal 👀… but has been reliably informed it was an absolute banger. We’ll take their word for it! 🚀😂

Sandwell responded and levelled things up after a rare mix-up at the back gifted them the equaliser.

The boys didn’t let it knock them, though, and were soon back in front. Some excellent build-up play from Nedjat created the opening for Craig Wood, who produced a brilliant finish to make it 2–1 Redditch. ⚽️

Unfortunately, Sandwell found another way back into the game, with an unfortunate own goal from Russon bringing the scores level once again at 2–2.

Redditch continued to dominate and create chances, but the Sandwell keeper was in inspired form, producing a string of excellent saves to keep his side in the contest. The pick of the bunch denied Nurthen, who had been set free and looked certain to score.

He wouldn’t be denied for long. 👀

Shortly afterwards, Nurthen got his goal, keeping his composure and producing a lovely, cute finish to finally beat the keeper and put Redditch 3–2 ahead! ⚽️🔥

Sandwell threw everything forward late on, but the Redditch defence stood firm. Bodies on the line, some big defensive moments and plenty of character ensured there was no way through.

FULL TIME: REDDITCH 3–2 SANDWELL ✅

A deserved victory after a dominant performance, with the boys showing plenty of character to retake the lead twice and see the game out under late pressure. Holmes producing some excellent blocking and defending late on with his small 8 min cameo 👏🏻
