Well, its here, its ready...
You maybe wondering what the hell I'm on about, I'm on about the ultimate big fish centrepin which myself and Garry Mills of Mill Tackle have created over the last 12 months, me with my crazy ideas, and Garry with his cold, genius engineering logic on what can be done and what can't be done, the name of the centrepin is The Quest.
Following the tremendous success of The Barbel Buster a past joint project by Garry and myself that commemorated 25 years on the creation of the Barbel Society, the Barbel Buster was a fast selling reel, that was designed to become the ultimate barbel pin.
The Quest is a big fish centrepin reel, be it a 30lb carp, be it a double figured barbel.
Made from aviation grade aluminum and nickel silver spokes, with a hard wearing anodised gun metal finish, with a fully air rated drilled wide spool, the Quest is a tough, finely tuned precision tool if there ever was one.
So what makes The Quest so special as a big fish reel?
The two main new points are the flanged, drilled angled spool that will accommodate any sized hands or fingers for spool control, but what makes this reel truly unique is its newly designed fighting drag, that can be locked down so no line can be taken, perfect for hook and hold situations, the adjustment is finite, the fighting drag can be adjusted to whatever the situation demands, whether full lock down or partial lock down, no more rapped knuckles, the newly created gearing ensures a smooth fast line retrieve whilst offering a semi locked down spool to full hook and hold options eg when fishing next to sunken trees, weeds and other snags whilst still offering ratchet or a none ratchet requirement.
The limited edition run ( see photos) of the first numbered 25 reels are selling out fast, with orders now being taken by Garry for the main production run of The Quest.
All prices, orders, the handing of reels and sales are via Garry Mills and Mill Tackle.
The Quest Continues for perfection, the ultimate challenge awaits us all...Lawrence Breakspear
